CMT to celebrate Willie Nelson’s 80th birthday

Here’s one special you won’t want to miss. CMT is planning on celebrating country icon Willie Nelson‘s 80th birthday with a very special taping of “CMT Crossroads: Willie Nelson & Friends From Third Man Records.”Announced to be part of the big birthday celebration will be performers Ashley Monroe, Jamey Johnson, Sheryl Crow, Neil Young, and Leon Russell. The episode will air in May, but we don’t have an exact date yet.

Fans are also asked to take part in Willie’s 80th birthday celebrations by visiting and submitting a video talking about why you’re a fan of the country legend. The birthday submissions are being put together by Farm Aid,who is gathering up good wishes for Willie Nelson from America’s family farmers, and artists. They’ll round up your funniest, most heartwarming testimonials to make a video for Willie on his big day on April 30, 2013.

One of the artists helping to celebrate with a video message is Kenny Chesney. Check out his special birthday message for the icon:

Jamey Johson & Willie Nelson Cancel Railroad Revival Tour

Fans who were looking forward to Willie Nelson and Jamey Johnson‘s “Railroad Revival Tour” are going to be pretty disappointed this week. According to the tour’s website, the tour has been completley cancelled and all fans will receive refunds on their credit cards by October 21st. The site quotes “complications would not permit us to host the shows in the manner intended” as the reason for the cancellation.

The tour was scheduled to kick off on October 20th, with several stops in cities from California to Georgia. Willie and Jamey were to be joined by several different acts throughout the tour. No other information on reason for cancellation has been provided at this time. Were you planning on attending?

Country music legend Willie Nelson recently sat down with Rolling Stone magazine to share the story behind his latest single “A Horse Called Music.” He re-recorded the track with Merle Haggard and his son, Lukas Nelson, on his new album “Heroes.” The song is a throwback to classic country, and something that Willie is pretty excited to have on his new album. Willie approached Merle to sing on the album… and he agreed to do it almost instantly, he explains in the interview.

The 2012 edition of Bamajam takes place June 14th through to the 16th in Enterprise, AL with previously announced superstar performances by Zac Brown Band, Alan Jackson, Kid Rock and Tim McGraw. Even more major artists will be announced as the date gets closer!

Specially-priced 3-day tickets are available for a limited time price of $119 at and They also have a very unique ticket package that will allow fans to be one of the very rare, and very few, people on-stage during performances. Willie Nelson to Release Classic Covers Album


Willie Nelson will release a cover album of country music classics on November 21st called Remember Me, Vol. 1. The album will be released on R&J Records, with volume two being expected sometime next year. The album will consist of 15 classic songs ranging from 1947-1989 and will be out just in time for holiday shopping. The covers on the CD are from artists such George Jones, Merle Haggard, and Johnny Cash and were picked by Nelson himself. The album was produced by James Stroud.

Willie Nelson’s Tour Bus Up For Auction

The tour bus that Willie Nelson called home up until 1999 is up for sale in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada for the Classic Car Auction tomorrow reports USA Today. The bus has a painted mural on the back with a pair of cowboy boots and the Texas state flag.

The bus has all everything usually on a tour bus: shower, bathroom, and six bunks for guests staying on board. What would you want on your tour bus if you ever had one?

Willie Nelson Reschedules Ohio Show

Willie Nelson has been forced to reschedule his October 18th show in Akron, Ohio until November. The move was done so Willie could attend a benefit concert in his home state suffering from the wildfires. The new concert date will be November 4th at 7:30 pm, and all tickets from the October 18th date will be honored at the new time.

Dixie Chicks, Willie Nelson to play benefit concert in Texas


Remember the Dixie Chicks? Do you miss them? Well, if you live in Texas, you’ll be able to see them perform once again. The Dixie Chicks along with Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett, and Asleep at the Wheel are performing at a benefit concert to provide relief for those affected by the wildfires. FIRE RELIEF: THE CONCERT FOR CENTRAL TEXAS,  will be held on October 17th at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, TX. Kyle Chandler from Friday Night Lights and actor Turk Pipkin will be hosts for the event.

The Courtyard Hounds, Shawn Colvin, Steve Miller,The Texas Tornados, and guitarists Eric Johnson and Joe Satriani will be making special guest appearances. All proceeds will go to the Central Texas Wildfire Fund at the Austin CommunityFoundation.

Tickets went on sale last Friday, September 23rd and can be purchased at Tickets start at $25.

Willie Nelson to air Farm Aid 2011 on Sirius-XM Radio

Country legend Willie Nelson is getting ready to have the 2011 Farm Aid special this Saturday, August 13th on his Sirius-XM radio’s “Willie’s Roadhouse” channel. The special will air at 2 pm EST and will feature backstage artist interviews, behind the scenes coverage, and will be hosted by Dallas Wayne of Sirius-XM fame.

Performances confirmed include Neil Young, Nelson, John Mellencamps, Dave Matthews, Jamey Johnson, Jakob Dylan, Jason Mraz, Ray Price and Billy Joe Shaver. Other special performances will be announced as the date gets closer.
