Jennifer Nettles introduces her son

Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland.

Congratulations to Sugarland‘s lead singer Jennifer Nettles! She announced the arrival of her son Magnus Hamilton on her official website this morning. She made the announcement on her personal blog for her fans, and even sharing the first picture of her first baby for everyone to see (which you can check out below!).

She celebrated her first Mother’s Day yesterday with her 5-month old son and her husband, Justin Miller. Magnus Hamilton Miller was born back on December 6th, 2012, and the couple did not release the news or a picture until today.

In her blog, she wrote:

“On December 6, 2012 my life was forever changed. I had a baby! Magnus Hamilton Miller was born healthy, hungry and with way more hair than I was expecting after seeing baby pictures of both me and my husband. Needless to say, especially to those of you who have children, the rhythm of my life is way different than the movement and pace before baby. In short, this baby is the boss of me.”

Sugarland’s Kristian Bush releases solo music

Kristian Bush of Sugarland.

Sugarland fans dying to hear some new music are in for a treat – if you live overseas. Kristian Bush has re-launched his own website and music. His brand new solo single “Love Or Money” was released in the United Kingdom and Europe this week. It’s the first solo single released by Kristian, who has been in the music business for over twenty years. The single is available for purchase on all European digital music retailers, including iTunes Europe. For fans worrying on if this means the end of Sugarland, it’s not, the pair decided to take a break from the road while Jennifer Nettles has some time to be a new mom.

Kristian released the single in the United Kingdom first since the first time he performed it was on BBC Radio.  He played his first solo show at the first country music festival in England at the O2 Arena. Kristian is working on releasing the single to North America in the near future, but for now, international country music fans actually have something American and Canadian fans don’t. We are, however, able to check out the official lyric video for “Love Or Money” below, so make sure to give it a listen and let us know what you think about Kristian trying his hand at solo music:

Male Vocalist was also a very popular poll. Blake and Luke Bryan were not too far apart in the beginning, but like his wife, Blake just took off and was the clear winner.

This category was such a close race and there was a three-way battle throughout, but LBT edged out Lady A by a few votes and The Band Perry wasn’t far behind.

Carrie had this one right from the beginning too, and held the number one spot throughout.

Florida Georgia Line has been heating up the music scene – and just this week – earned the highest debut album sales of 2012 for a new Country artist with nearly 63,000 copies of “HERE’S TO THE GOOD TIMES.” The debut project on Republic Nashville entered the sales charts at #3 on the Billboard Country Albums and #10 on the Billboard Top 200.

In other Florida-Georgia Line news, the duo performed their smash hit single “Cruise” live on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last night. This morning, they stopped by FOX & Friends to play the breakout smash, which has spent two consecutive weeks at #1 on Country radio charts and is the #1 best-selling single for Country this week.

Brian Kelley (Ormond Beach, Florida) and Tyler Hubbard (Monroe, Georgia) worked with producer Joey Moi (Jake Owen, Nickelback) on their 11-track project, which showcases FGL’s eclectic mix of influences ranging from country to hip-hop.

After selling out every date on the CMT Tour with headliner Jake Owen over the last few months, FGL will hit the road again in January 2013 with Luke Bryan’s “Dirt Road Diaries Tour.” Their energetic stage presence and infectious lyrics have earned the attention of fans and Superstars – Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, Jennifer Nettles (Sugarland) and Dierks Bentley – alike.

Check out the picture of the group below from last night’s appearance and let us know what you think of this new country duo:

Exclusive Interview: Meet Will Hoge

Will-Hoge-credit-Peyton-Hoge

If you don’t know the name Will Hoge yet, it’s time for us to help change that. He’s been making music for well over a decade and has garnered an impressive fan base on the merits of his often-independent releases. He’s appeared on stage at the Grand Ole Opry alongside Vince Gill, performed on GAC’s flood relief program “Music City Keep On Playin,” and has opened for the likes of Needtobreathe, Sugarland, and the Civil Wars.

However, Hoge is also the man behind the Eli Young Band‘s #1, and now Grammy-nominated, Even If It Breaks Your Heart. That track is now nominated for Best Country Song and Best Country Duo/Group Performance, and we want to send our congrats to Will and the Eli Young Band! Read on for more about Will, his influences, his experiences in the industry and his opinion on Taylor Swift!

46th annual Country Music Association Winners

Blake Shelton & Miranda Lambert. photo credit: Robert Evans.

There were a lot of surprises last night during the broadcast of the 46th annual Country Music Association (CMA) Awards. Some new artists were finally able to take home their first awards versus industry heavyweights, and a brand new king of country music was crowned. The award show was hosted for the fifth year by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on ABC. Even as a voting member of the CMAs, some of the winners shocked me in the end. While most were my votes and who I wanted to win, there were a few that the rest of the industry did surprise me with.

The big names of the night were once again country’s supercouple Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton. After an emotional acceptance speech for Song Of The Year for “Over You,” they both made their way back up to the stage several times – for Male Vocalist of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, and Blake taking home the big prize – Entertainer of the Year. Other notable, and just as surprised winners, were Hunter Hayes for New Artist of the Year, and Little Big Town finally taking home the Group of the Year award. Thompson Square emotionally accepted the award for Duo of the Year, also ending Sugarland’s streak of wins in that category.

Eric Church‘s “Chief” won Album of the Year, finally putting Miranda’s album of the year streak to an end.

See the full list of winners below and let us know how you did with your predictions. Do you agree with the industry?

Is there really any other choice besides “Red Solo Cup” for music video of the year?!

Even OUR staff couldn’t agree, so read on and let us know who you think will score big on Thursday night!

Sugarland Puts Rumors To Rest

Sugarland.

After all sorts of wacky rumors have been circulating for pretty much all of 2012, country music’s superstar duo Sugarland finally decided to make things official. They won’t be breaking up anytime soon. The group, who is made up of expecting mother Jennifer Nettles and songwriter Kristian Bush, wrapped up their innovative and very interactive “In Your Hands” tour this fall. In an exclusive interview with AOL’s The Boot, both members agreed that there is plenty more to come from Sugarland – even if they need to take things a little slower before releasing some new music.

“Jennifer and I are not finished making records. We know that,” Kristian confirms to The Boot. “We’re excited that this a great time to take a little bit of a breather because she’s got to figure out being a mom. We’ve been on the road for a very long time, so there’s no reason we shouldn’t take a little time off. You’ve got to give people space to be a parent. I’m a parent and I know what kind of adjustment that has been for me. I love her more than anything in the world, and I will do whatever it takes to make sure her life adjusts so she can become the best possible mom she can be.”

Jennifer added:

“Right now we’re both in the writing phase and I’m going to take some time with baby and figure that out, hopefully [laughs], and see what’s next musically,” Jennifer said at a recent CMA press event, echoing her bandmate’s sentiments. “We’re both writing separately and doing our separate things and seeing where that’s going to go. Then, I’m going to taking a pause for a little while to be a mom and enjoy this new little one.”

Don’t worry – fans will still be able to see the pair this week when they appear the CMA Awards this Thursday to present. The 46th Annual CMA Awards air live on ABC, beginning at 8:00 PM ET.
