Sneak Peek: Florida Georgia Line and Nelly “Cruise”

FGL-nelly

Although “Cruise” is already a bona fide hit, the guys of Florida Georgia Line are ready to ride the wave even further, with the release of the “Cruise” Remix, featuring Grammy-Winner Nelly. The country duo and hip hop star recently joined forced in the California desert to film a video full of fast cars, women and slick moves. We’ve got your first look before the video hits VEVO on Monday, May 13th.

After hinting for weeks, Republic Nashville’s Florida Georgia Line have exclusively announced, via their social networks, that a “Cruise” (Remix Feat. Nelly) will be available on April 2.

The breakout duo has caught the attention of several Superstars, including Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, and now, GRAMMY-winning Hip Hop artist Nelly. The sizzling collaboration will impact radio just in time for Spring and a taste of the new mix is subtly place in Nelly’s “Hey Porsche” video. Watch via http://vevo.ly/VfDGCr.
FGL’s Brian Kelley (Ormond Beach, Florida) says:
“When we caught wind that Nelly was a fan of ‘Cruise,’ we were floored. We’ve been fans of his music for years and thought it would be cool to team up on a remix.”
FGL’s Tyler Hubbard (Monroe, Georgia) adds:
“Nelly really brought a fresh, unique sound to ‘Cruise’ and we’re super excited for our fans to hear!”
With an ever-expanding fanbase, the remix is poised to follow the success of FGL’s Double Platinum, multi-week #1 smash “Cruise.” Their follow-up Country single, “Get Your Shine On,” has sold over 500,000 copies and is Top 15-and-climbing. Both songs are featured on their debut album HERE’S TO THE GOOD TIMES, which earned the highest debut album sales of 2012 for a new Country artist.
FGL’s catchy tunes and energetic live show have garnered coveted slots on two major Country tours – Taylor Swift’s “THE RED TOUR” and Luke Bryan’s “DIRT ROAD DIARIES TOUR” – this year. Next week, the hot newcomers will open for Swift’s three-night, sold-out stint at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.

VIDEO: Nellyjoy – Trampoline

JaneDear Girls.

Remember former Warner Music Nashville duo The JaneDear Girls? They announced in August that they’ve gone their separate ways, with one doing pop and one doing country, and one half, now known as NellyJoy, has released her brand new solo music video for “Trampoline.” It’s a cute single for the blonde half, who shows off her creative, and fun, side in the video.

Check it out below and let us know what you think – do you like singer-songwriter Danelle Leverett’s pop sound or do you like her sound as part of country duo The JaneDear Girls?

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Dee Jay Silver

Dee Jay Silver

In today’s music, it is common to hear a remix of some of your favorite songs; even heartfelt power ballads have turned into dance hits with the help of some of music’s most talented DJs. And just when you thought DJ’ing couldn’t become anymore unique, enter Dee Jay Silver, the first DJ to be signed to a major Nashville record label. Dee Jay has played in premier venues in virtually every major market in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, but has ultimately found his home in Nashville. Whether he is touring with Jason Aldean and playing in sold out stadiums, performing on the American Country Awards, or remixing the work of some of country’s best known artists, Dee Jay is bringing his talents to the fans of country music in a myriad of ways. Dee Jay took some time out of his day of “bad television” while he recovered from the ACAs in Las Vegas to talk with me about his music, his favorite tour stop to date, and his future plans (which included getting back to Nashville stat!).

Keepin’ It Country’s CMA Predictions

Blake-Miranda-CMA-predictions

The CMA’s are upon as once again, so the Keepin’ It Country Staff narrowed down our picks for the night’s biggest awards. Let us know who you agree with!

Entertainer of the Year Nominees: Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, George Strait, Taylor Swift

Nicole: It’s not an easy choice here, and there’s definitely the obvious inclusion of George Strait for sentimental reasons, but I have to give this to Blake. He played a huge summer tour, anchors the judging panel on The Voice season after season and put out quite a few huge hits. He’s arguably the biggest thing in country right now so I have to give it to him.

Jessica: Luke Bryan has had a huge year, and I think he’s taken one of the top spots in country music right now. You can’t deny those dance moves!

Jennifer: Luke Bryan – With sold out shows across the country and yet another #1 hit song (despite Zac Brown’s disdain for said song), no one is killing it on radio or on the road quite like Luke.

Jeanna: Blake Shelton or Taylor Swift? Both have really helped broaden the country music audience and impact the genre in such a significant way. Taylor is massive with her sold out tours worldwide and cross-over success. Blake is the face of the genre at the present time, and he has helped put country on the map and bring it to focus with The Voice. Luke Bryan had a big year and is a possibility too. However, I feel like it’s Blake’s time for this right now so I’m giving this one to him.

Florida Georgia Line sell more than 10 million tracks worldwide

Photo Credit: Adam Taylor for Republic Nashville

Florida Georgia Line is turning up the triple play action this week with “Round Here” earning their third consecutive #1 smash in both the US and Canada. The GOLD-certified single topped all four Country radio charts – Mediabase Country Chart, Billboard Country Chart, Mediabase Canada Country Airplay Chart and BDS Canada Country Airplay Chart. Amassing international appeal, the breakout duo recently crossed a new career threshold — tallying more than 10 million tracks sold worldwide from their debut album HERE’S TO THE GOOD TIMES (Republic Nashville), which has been certified PLATINUM in the US and GOLD in Canada.

As announced yesterday (9/10), FGL earned their first ever Country Music Association (CMA) Award nominations and scored nods in the following four categories — Vocal Duo; New Artist of the Year; Single of the Year for “Cruise”; and Musical Event of the Year with Nelly for the remix of “Cruise.” The awards show will air LIVE from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on November 6 at 8P ET/PT on ABC.

“Last year we attended the CMA Awards for the first time and now to be nominated for four awards is an unbelievable honor,” shares FGL’s Tyler Hubbard (Monroe, GA).

FGL’s Brian Kelley (Ormond Beach, FL) adds, “we are blown away! This is such a testament to our fans, country radio and our team. We are incredibly thankful and are excited for the awards night. It is going to be a party!”
The hot newcomers previously garnered back-to-back, multi-week #1 smashes in the US and Canada – the 5X PLATINUM breakout debut single “Cruise,” which combined with the remix with Nelly has sold over 5.5 million copies in the US alone, and PLATINUM-certified follow-up “Get Your Shine On.” According to SoundScan, “Cruise” is the third-best-selling Country digital song ever and recently broke the record for longest #1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Chart. The multiple ACM and CMT Music Award winners will headline the HERE’S TO THE GOOD TIMES TOUR 2013 this fall.

Florida Georgia Line’s “Cruise’ Breaks Billboard Record

florida georgia line breaks billboard record

The guys of Florida Georgia Line are unstoppable, breaking another chart record this week. Billboard reports that the duo have officially scored 22 weeks at #1 on the Hot Country Songs chart with “Cruise.” The song overtakes Eddy Arnold’s “I’ll Hold You in My Heart (Till I Can Hold You in My Arms),” Hank Snow’s “I’m Moving On,” and Webb Pierce’s “In the Jailhouse Now,” each which held #1 for 21 weeks.

The record-break is due partially to Billboard’s new scoring method, which began last fall. While the survey used to rank songs purely on a select group of radio stations, it now accounts for digital downloads, streams and a larger radio panel.

Although “Cruise” cruised to #1 in December, the re-mix featuring Nelly has given it crossover appeal and returned it to the top of the Hot Country Song chart. According to Billboard, “Cruise” has sold 5.4 million downloads, making it the third-best-selling country digital track in history.
