Rising country star Maggie Sajak recently took time out of her busy schedule to chat with us, and we’re thrilled to introduce you to her. We chatted about everything from her hot new single “Wild Boy” to her love of Carrie Underwood to her impressive school-music balance.
Maggie recently released a video for her new single, “Wild Boy,” which is a song that she loved immediately upon hearing. (Us too!) While most girls deal with a wild boy or two, the song has a unique twist on the typical tale. “I love the song because it’s powerful for a lot of people. A lot of girls end up having a boy like that in their life at some point, for better or worse. Sometimes they stick with us, sometimes they don’t,” Maggie says. “What’s cool to me is that the song doesn’t just focus on the guy, but it’s more about a girl making the decision about the guy and whether or not to put her heart on the line.”
On first listen to “Wild Boy,” Maggie immediately connected with the lyrics and knew it was a perfect fit. “When I received it, I definitely got the chills the first time I heard it and it really touched me, so I was thinking that it would touch a lot of other people. That’s the most important thing to me, always, the lyrics and the impact it has.”
Our next Stageit show is upon us and it will be an absolute blast! Keepin’ It Country proudly presents … Abbi Scott! The show will take place on Sunday, December 8th, at 9:00pm EST.
Abbi Scott is a singer/songwriter who was recently deemed as a #CMChat “One to Watch.” Abbi has opened for several of country music’s hottest artists, including Luke Bryan, Lee Brice, Dierks Bentley, Jana Kramer, DJ Miller, David Bradley, Dustin Lynch, and Maggie Rose.
On September 21, 2013, Abbi released her EP, Abbi Scott, which was released on iTunes. Abbi music can be described as high energy, honest, and fresh, while remaining true to her country music roots.
We are so excited to welcome Abbi to our Keepin’ It Country Presents stage!
Additionally, this show is unlike any other! The theme of Abbi’s show is “Ugly Sweaters For the Holidays” and ticket proceeds will be donated to Toys for Tots, an organization that Abbi is ecstatic to assist. During the show, Abbi would love for her audience to sport some ugly sweaters and post pictures on Twitter using the hashtag #KICUglySweaters.
This is going to be a unique and fun show with a whole lot of country and some holiday spice in the mix. Don’t miss out on this fun event for a great cause!

Abbi Scott is an Indiana teenager who is in her senior year of high school and looking forward to graduation (much like all other high school seniors!). However, Abbi is not your typical high school senior. While Abbi has her face in textbooks, she has her sights set on music, and there is no stopping this country girl from making her dreams come true! Abbi describes herself as “a true country girl, living on twenty-five acres, and . . . in love with the outdoors.” Abbi has been compared to Miranda Lambert, Gretchen Wilson, and Kelly Clarkson, and values these music industry phenoms’ strong work ethic and ability to maintain a sense of humor.

Stoney Creek Records artist Randy Houser is pretty excited over one particular upcoming gig. The “Anything Goes” singer will be hosting the Detroit Lions’ “Coach’s Kickoff” party on Sunday, August 5th for Jim Schwartz in Ford Field. It’s the first-ever event for the team, who will have Maggie Rose open for Randy.
“I’m excited to be a part of this first-ever event with Coach Schwartz and the Detroit Lions. Everyone knows Detroit has some of the world’s most passionate fans – for both music and their sports teams. The Coach’s Kickoff will be an awesome event for Lions fans and I can’t wait to take the stage in Detroit,” said Houser.
Turns out, the team is just a big of a fan of Randy as he is of them:
“I’m a Randy Houser fan, but missed him the last time he came through town. I am thrilled he is going to be the headliner for our first event,” said Schwartz.

Looks like there’s still a few ruffled feathers out there in country music. The National Traditional Country Music Association started a petition this week to try to remove Oklahoman superstar Blake Shelton from the Grand Ole Opry membership as a reaction to his comments about classic country stars today. According to Bob Everhart, President of the National Traditional Country Music Association since 1976:
“We organized a large non-profit corporation 39 years ago to prevent the very thing Blake Shelton is espousing. Today we have joined forces with the Traditional Music Association of America; Classic Country; The Real Old Farts & Jackasses; American Music Group; and several other organizations who are very concerned about the insults Blake Shelton tosses around so nonchalantly.”
His efforts are backed by Maggie Penn, the leader of a country music association in Michigan. She adds:
“We are going to march on Nashville. We are demanding that Blake Shelton be removed from the Grand Ole Opry. We are also demanding that huge radio conglomerates respond to our requests to feature more traditional and classic country music on these so-called country music radio stations. Clear Channel is one of the worst offenders. Mr. May, CEO, of Clear Channel needs to remember that the frequencies they broadcast on do not belong to them, they belong to us.”
The group is setting a march for April 17th down Music Row in downtown Nashville, Tennessee.
What do you think? Is this a dramatic overreaction, or are they justified in their protest? Sound off below:
UPDATE: Bob Everhart has sent us further details about their protest march in April.
A “March” on Nashville is now scheduled for April 17 beginning at 11am at Tony Rose Park (08 Music Circle East) with the march going down Music Row, ending at the offices of the Country Music Association, which has virtually eliminated ‘traditional’ country music from their objectives. There will be a free concert of “traditional American music” by participating musicians following the march.
The group is also circulating two petitions: one to demand more traditional country music and bluegrass music to be played on country stations nationwide, and another to remove Blake’s Opry membership.
