Although Christmas day may be over, it’s not yet time to put away your Christmas albums. Earlier this season, Kelly Clarkson released her future classic, Wrapped In Red, which is chock full of classic covers and great originals. Yesterday, she appeared on the Today Show, with a stunning, countrified version of “Blue Christmas” that would make even Elvis proud.
Try saying that title three times fast!
As you have probably seen advertised recently (during The Sound of Music, The Voice, or a myriad of other NBC specials), Kelly Clarkson is bringing some of her best assets to the network for her Cautionary Christmas Music Tale. Specifically, Kelly will bring her talent, sense of humor, and impressive cast of characters in her life to a television audience.
During this special, Kelly presents the brattiest possible version of herself (“Scrooge, diva’d out,” she calls the character) while trying to enlist celebrities to appear in a Christmas special. “We’re doing a show within a show, kind of like White Christmas,” Kelly says. “Let me tell you this, though … it’s nowhere near that good. I love what we’ve done, but that’s a classic.”
Kelly’s show will feature musical performances from mother-in-law, Reba McEntire, along with Trisha Yearwood, both of whom appear on Kelly’s Christmas album Wrapped in Red. The show will also include cameos by Jay Leno, Matt Lauer, Robin Williams, Whoopi Goldberg, William Shatner, Danica Patrick, Heidi Klum, Community‘s Ken Jeong and Queer Eye for the Straight Guy‘s Jai Rodriguez will make appearances. Oh, and did we mention Blake Shelton … as an elf?
This will be an event that Kelly fans and country fans will not want to miss! Tune in to NBC or set your DVRs tonight for the 10:00pm EST airing of Kelly Clarkson’s Cautionary Christmas Music Tale! And check out some behind-the-scenes footage of the special, featuring Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton:
As you likely have heard, newlyweds Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock are expecting their first child together, which was announced weeks after their recent marriage. Kelly has revealed in recent interviews, as well as through social media, that the pregnancy has not been easy on her body thus far, and that she has been experiencing her fair share of related sickness.
Taking to Twitter on Sunday, Kelly apologized to her fans for being “incredibly ill” and hoped that she would be feeling back to normal soon. Kelly tweeted “I’m so sorry 2 all my fans overseas 4 not doing promo 4 my Xmas album. I have been incredibly ill w/pregnancy. Hopefully it gets better soon.”
The first single off of Kelly Clarkson‘s Christmas album, Wrapped In Red, has proven to be quite a success in terms of holiday music. Kelly has now released a music video to accompany “Underneath the Tree,” which continues to bring the holiday cheer this season.
Wrapped in gold (and red, of course), Kelly performs the upbeat song about wanting just one thing under her tree this year — that someone special. Kelly’s band trades in their typically comfortable stage attire for a more formal and dapper look, complete with red instruments to capture the spirit of the song. The video also gives a backstage glimpse into Kelly’s preparations for the several performances and specials in which she has participated in celebration of this year’s holidays.
Check out Kelly’s latest music video below and get yourself ready for the upcoming holiday! And if you haven’t already picked up a copy of Wrapped In Red, you might want to ask for that to be underneath your tree!
Just hours after Billboard announced that “Underneath the Tree” is a #1 hit on AC Radio, Kelly Clarkson continues to sleigh with the release of her official video for the song. The video features a performance and behind the scenes clips from her forthcoming NBC TV Special, Kelly Clarkson’s Cautionary Music Tale.
Kelly Clarkson’s Cautionary Christmas Music Tale is set to air December 11th on NBC. The special will center around a comedic story of Clarkson searching for the meaning of Christmas. In recent interviews, she has likened the tale to a diva-spin on A Christmas Carol.
Of course, the powerhouse vocalist will also be performing songs from her new Christmas album, Wrapped In Red. The record was just released last month, and it is absolute Christmas and vocal perfection! We’ve had it on repeat since October.
Her mom-in-law, Reba, and good friend, Trisha Yearwood, helped Clarkson close out her album with a stunning trio version of “Silent Night”, and they join her to perform the classic for the special as well. Also on hand for Clarkson’s Christmas special debut is good buddy, Blake Shelton. Other guests include: Jay Leno, Matt Lauer, Robin Williams, Whoopi Goldberg, William Shatner, Danica Patrick, Heidi Klum, Ken Jeong and Jai Rodriguez.
Set your DVRs! The music tale will air Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 10 p.m. (ET/PT).

On November 14th, Musicians On Call (MOC) Nashville held their 6th Anniversary Celebration presented by Citi with the help of multi-genre superstar Kelly Clarkson. The 3-time Grammy Award winner played an intimate show to a sold-out crowd at the Hard Rock Cafe in downtown Nashville.
Clarkson helped raise over an impressive $106,000, marking the night as the highest-earning event ever for MOC Nashville.
“When I first learned about MOC, it appealed to me for so many reasons,” shares Clarkson. “I love how it creates opportunities for musicians to play for kids and bring music to the families who are spending their time, especially during holidays, in the hospitals away from the comfort of their homes.”
As always, Clarkson shined and wowed the crowd with her talent and personality as she performed some of her biggest hits as well as a few songs from her new Christmas album, Wrapped In Red. True to her generous spirit, Clarkson also donated her 2012 American Music Awards performance dress to Hard Rock Cafe for display in its world-famous memorabilia collection in exchange for a $9,000 contribution to MOC Nashville.
MOC expanded to Nashville in April 2007, and has continued to grow ever since. The branch now has 12 weekly programs within 7 area healthcare facilities, and its volunteers have played for more than 70,000 patients, family, and staff.
“This is by far the biggest event to date for Musicians On Call Nashville,” said Dana Sones, MOC Nashville’s Program Director. “We are beyond grateful to Kelly Clarkson for donating her time and talent to help celebrate our sixth anniversary. This event not only celebrates how far we’ve come in six short years, but allows us to expand our programs to bring music to even more individuals in the years to come.”
The night also included a VIP cocktail reception and auction bidding, including autographed items from Blake Shelton, Taylor Swift, and Tim McGraw.
All of the proceeds from the 6th Anniversary Celebration directly benefit MOC Nashville and its mission to bring music to the bedsides of patients in healthcare facilities.
Needless to say, a night very well spent… a wonderful event by an amazing organization! Thank-you to MOC and Kelly Clarkson for bringing the gift of music to those who need it most.

Kelly Clarkson has sure been busy lately. Between getting married, releasing her brilliant Christmas album, Wrapped In Red, appearing at the CMA Awards and erm, getting busy (TMI Alert!), it’s amazing she has time for anything else. However, Clarkson paid a visit to music-city’s most famous residents yesterday to tape a guest spot on ABC’s hit show, Nashville.
Speaking to extra from the TV set, Clarkson revealed, “This is just me being a part of a show. I’m really a big fan. I’m playing me, so there’s not as much pressure.”
She also spoke candidly about her recent marriage and her much buzzed about appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
It’s wedded bliss throughout the Kelly Clarkson fandom!
As we posted yesterday, the multi-genre superstar tied it up with Starstruck talent manager, Brandon Blackstock, this weekend. Yesterday, the new Mrs. Blackstock shared a few amazingly gorgeous pictures from the day leaving all of us on cloud nine with her. And today, she erupted twitter when she shared a beautiful wedding video. It’s the sweetest thing ever.
We’re all kind of obsessed with all things Clarkson-Blackstock right now, and we don’t mind one bit!
We couldn’t be happier for Kelly. Congratulations again, Mr. & Mrs. Blackstock! Thank-you for sharing with us!
Here is the video by her videographer, Weiss Eubanks. It is set to “Heavenly Day” by Patty Griffin. Perfect!

Ah, some people wait a lifetime for a moment like this. Congratulations are in order for Kelly Clarkson, who finally tied it up with Brandon Blackstock in Tennessee on Sunday. After months of gushing about her man, her ring, being in love, and all things wedding-related (except the idea of having an actual wedding), Clarkson and Blackstock are officially man and wife.
Kelly took to Twitter to share the happy news, tweeting, “I’m officially Mrs. Blackstock :) We got married yesterday at Blackberry Farms in TN, the most beautiful place ever!”
Earlier this year, the pair announced that they’d forego having Blake Shelton do double-duty as both minister and wedding singer in favor of a more intimate event. The two exchanged their vows in a small ceremony on Sunday at Blackberry Farms in the Smoky Mountains. The wedding was so intimate that Blackstock’s famous stepmama, Reba, wasn’t even in attendance. Instead, the two opted to have just their children (from Brandon’s first marriage) join them as they said “I do.”
The question now on everyone’s minds is when Baby Blackstocks will make an appearance. As has been reported as of late, the former “Miss Independent” has made it no secret that she intends to get pregnant immediately and wants Brandon to give her the gift of a baby for Christmas. Welp, that gives new meaning to the song title “Underneath the Tree.” Perhaps we’ll be hearing the sequel to Kelly’s song, “Tie It Up” in the next month or two, which will likely be entitled “Knock It Up.”
Congrats to the happy couple, and let the Blackstock baby watch commence … Now.
