2013 One to Watch: Rose Falcon

Rose Falcon.

Last year, we introduced a new annual feature on Keepin’ it Country – Ones to Watch. Our predictions were pretty spot on last year, with Dustin Lynch and JT Hodges quickly becoming popular with country music fans. This year it’s time for a little love for the ladies – and our first 2013 One to Watch: Rose Falcon.

Rose, a singer-songwriter signed to Show Dog Universal, is the writer behind Country Strong’s hauntingly beautiful “Give Into Me,” and has been named one of CMT’s Next Women of Country.  Rose, a songwriter just like her father, has been praised by the legendary Bon Jovi as a “true artist” and “an old soul in the voice of a beautiful young lady.” She recently released her single “If Love Had A Heart” to country radio, and she’s definitely one to watch out for in 2013.

In a country music world where males dominate airplay and it’s hard for a new female to break out, Rose is one you will be cheering for. With her talented writing and pretty vocals, she has what it takes to hold her own at country radio.

Check out her EPK below then read our exclusive interview with Rose. Get to know her before she takes over country – which she will:

Miranda Lambert is helping out some friends in need next year, replacing Lady Antebellum‘s headlining date at Country Fest in Wisconsin. “We could not be more excited to announce Miranda Lambert as a Headliner for Country Fest ‘13!” says Country Fest. “She not only puts on the most entertaining and high energy show for her fans, she is adding this solo date to her previously scheduled tour dates with Pistol Annies to join the Country Fest Family here in Cadott. We cannot thank Miranda enough & look forward to her return this year!”

JT Hodges to host Holiday Howler event in Nashville

JT Hodges.

Show Dog-Universal’s J.T. Hodges already has some pretty cool Christmas plans. He’ll be hosting his second annual “Holiday Howler” event benefiting the Brown Dog Foundation on December 3rd. The concert kicks off at 6 pm CST at the Gibson Showroom in Nashville and will feature performances from JT himself as well as Chris Stapleton, Jonathon Singleton, and Whitney Duncan.

The Brown Dog Foundation aims to give animal owners a way to balance medical costs with saving their pet. They strive to find a way to stop pet euthanasia when the animal faces a treatable, but life threatening injury or illness, due to financial issues. The organization aims to find a way to keep quality of life for both the owner and their animal.

About the foundation, JT shares:

“Animals, like people, will get sick or need medical attention at some point in time and as a dog owner, I know those bills can be pricey.”

Tickets can be purchased in advanced at browndogfoundation.com or at the door for $5 each. The event will also feature a silent auction, doggy bags, door prizes, and much more! The Brown Dog Foundation was created in 2006 in memory of Chip, a beloved dog who lived to the age of ten after his family wanted to euthanize him at a pound when he was four years old because of a cell tumor.

Josh Thompson Signs With Show Dog-Universal

Congratulations to Josh Thompson and the team at Show Dog-Universal! They announced earlier this week that Josh has been signed to Toby Keith‘s label. The country music singer split ways with his home of three years at Sony Music Nashville earlier this year. While there’s no news yet on a new single or album with his new label, we’re sure he’ll be hard at work soon! It’s an exclusive recording contract with the label, who currently has a roster of Toby, Jessie James, Trace Adkins, J.T. Hodges, and Rose Falcon.

Josh’s new website is currently under construction. His last single released with Sony was “Comin’ Around.”

CONTEST: Win An Autographed JT Hodges Album!

jt hodges

We named J.T. Hodges as one of our “Ones To Watch for 2012″ earlier this year, and now his debut self-titled album is finally in stores! We’ve teamed up with Show Dog-Universal Records and J.T. to give two lucky fans the chance to win an autographed copy of his debut country album. His record, released this week, is available everywhere right now in both digital and physical music retailers. See what we had to say about the album, which features JT’s catchy “Hunt You Down,” his romantic “Goodbyes Made You Mine,” and his upcoming single “Sleepy Little Town”:

“JT Hodges does two things really, really well. His full-bodied voice gives personality and a personal touch to nearly every song. And each song has a distinctive flavour, which both his voice and the instruments help provide…JT Hodges is going to be a star. More than any new artist I’ve heard, he makes interesting, varied, full-blooded music. In the biggest show of respect I can make, I’ll be buying this album myself.”

Do you want to win the album from the ACM New Artist Of The Year semi-finalist? Then find out how below by entering on our Rafflecopter giveaway widget – either here or on our Facebook “giveaway” tab! The contest is open immediately and runs until August 27th at 12:01 am EST. Unfortunately, we are only able to provide the contest to legal residents of the USA and Canada due to shipping costs, except where prohibited. Good luck!

JT Hodges Taking It To The Fans Release Week

J.T. Hodges

JT Hodges will be a pretty busy guy next week with the release of his debut, self-titled album. He’ll be interacting with fans as he counts down the hours to the release of his highly anticipated album: including an interactive internet chat, a stop his hometown of Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, and visiting of the biggest shopping malls in the world at Mall of America in Minneapolis. He’ll also be previewing his album for his fans with an appearance on Sirius/XM’s The Highway’s broadcast of interviews and band performances, which kicked off on August 13th, and runs until release day on August 21st.

When JT released his debut single “Hunt You Down” last year, he quickly put faith in fans and the music industry and became one of the most engaged artists in country music through social media and constant touring. He even had his fans pick his next single, “Sleepy Little Town,” through a vote on his official Facebook fan page. The single will be released to country radio on September 10th.

“It’s only natural that JT decided to spend release week with the fans who have so actively supported him on his first two singles,” said Bill Kennedy, Show Dog-Universal Music’s VP of Sales, Marketing and New Media.  “From the moment we released his first single, JT has been directly engaged with music fans through his various social sites and especially through his touring, We at the label agreed with JT that spending this important first week with the people who brought him to the dance was time well spent.”

JT will kick off his release week events with a special online 30-minute chat and performance at 7 pm CST. It’s the latest episode of “Just Talkin’,” and can be streamed on his Ustream page right here. On August 20th, JT takes it to the streets in his hometown of Dallas-Fort Worth with a special meet-and-greet at Joe T Garcia’s in Fort Worth. On release day, August 21st, he’ll be holding a special in-store performance at the Southwest Loop Best Buy in Fort Worth. On the 24th, he’ll be doing an autograph signing and performance at the Best Buy at the Mall of America.

JT’s self-titled debut CD is one of our favorites of 2012, and is available for pre-order right now on jthodges.com. Fans can order a digital copy through iTunes, or a physical copy through Amazon.

5 Reasons You Need To See JT Hodges At Boots & Hearts

JT Hodges.

We named Show Dog Universal’s J.T. Hodges our “one to watch for 2012″ earlier this  year… and for good reason. His debut country album hits physical and digital stores on August 21st, and he’ll be playing the Sirius/XM Front Porch Stage on Saturday night from 6:30 to 7:30. He’ll be on-stage during Sheryl Crow and right when Alabama starts, but we believe fans need to check out J.T.

Here’s our five reasons why you can’t miss J.T.’s set in Bowmanville, Ontario tomorrow night:
