What is better than our country music community doing good?
Country artists gathered on January 11th for “Concert for the Cause” and raised over $200,00 for Kids Cancer Alliance.
Sponsored by Morgan Stanley, “Concert for the Cause” took place at the Ice House in Louisville and was hosted by “Listening Room” owner, Chris Blair. With an intimate acoustic and in-the-round setting, Jake Owen headlined the event with special guests Frankie Ballard, Jana Kramer, Paul Overstreet, Jason Sturgeon, Ilya Toshinsky, Scotty Emerick, Josh Osborne, Ben Bradford, and Olivia Lane. In addition to the music, there was a live and silent auction with an after party hosted by Dee Jay Silver.
Kids Cancer Alliance was founded in 1981 and sought to provide a normal camping experience for children with cancer. Throughout the years, the organization continued to grow and expand into what it is today. The non-profit now offers free oncology and sibling camps, teen and family retreats, quarterly events and in-hospital programs as well as financial support.

The CMA’s are upon as once again, so the Keepin’ It Country Staff narrowed down our picks for the night’s biggest awards. Let us know who you agree with!
Entertainer of the Year Nominees: Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, George Strait, Taylor Swift
Nicole: It’s not an easy choice here, and there’s definitely the obvious inclusion of George Strait for sentimental reasons, but I have to give this to Blake. He played a huge summer tour, anchors the judging panel on The Voice season after season and put out quite a few huge hits. He’s arguably the biggest thing in country right now so I have to give it to him.
Jessica: Luke Bryan has had a huge year, and I think he’s taken one of the top spots in country music right now. You can’t deny those dance moves!
Jennifer: Luke Bryan – With sold out shows across the country and yet another #1 hit song (despite Zac Brown’s disdain for said song), no one is killing it on radio or on the road quite like Luke.
Jeanna: Blake Shelton or Taylor Swift? Both have really helped broaden the country music audience and impact the genre in such a significant way. Taylor is massive with her sold out tours worldwide and cross-over success. Blake is the face of the genre at the present time, and he has helped put country on the map and bring it to focus with The Voice. Luke Bryan had a big year and is a possibility too. However, I feel like it’s Blake’s time for this right now so I’m giving this one to him.
Kelly Clarkson‘s current country single, “Tie It Up,” is seriously great. If you haven’t stopped by iTunes to grab it yet, you should. You won’t be disappointed.
Written by Shane McAnally, Ashley Arrison, and Josh Osborne, the single gives homage to Clarkson’s story with fiancé Brandon Blackstock and their life right now since they will soon be tying the knot!
Check out a behind-the-scenes video of the making of “Tie It Up.” There is one part where Clarkson is wailing like only she can (approximately 0:28-0:48). The song really showcases her amazing, goose-bump worthy range and pure tone. She’s the vocal queen.
McAnally says in the video, “Isn’t that the best thing you ever heard in your life?” Yes, it is… yes, it is!
Chris Young‘s new album, A.M., won’t be in stores until September 17, but the “Aw Naw” hit-maker is anxious to share it with fans. He took to the Internet today to reveal the album cover and track list. “I couldn’t be more excited to share this with my fans,” admits Chris. “We just finished the cover last week and got the songs sequenced so this is truly ‘hot off the press.”
Six of the album’s tracks were co-written by Young, including the title track and the first single, “Aw Naw.” “There’s a lot of fun on this album and that’s why I wanted to call the album A.M.,” said Chris. “Like the song says, ‘the whole world’s asleep but we’re wide awake in the A.M.”
The A.M. Track List is as follows:
1. Aw Naw – Chris Young/Chris DeStefano/Ashley Gorley
2. Hold You To It – Chris Young/Shane McAnally/Josh Osborne
3. Lonely Eyes – Johnny Bulford/Jason Matthews/Laura Veltz
4. Goodbye – Chris Young/Chris DeStefano/Ashley Gorley
5. A.M. – Chris Young/Chris DeStefano/Ashley Gorley

11. Lighters In The Air – Chris Young/Monty Criswell/Shane Minor
Black River Entertainment’s Craig Morgan has released a brand new single for country music fans today! “Wake Up Lovin’ You” is now available through iTunes or other digital music outlets. It’s the first single from his upcoming untitled album that’s due out in September. It’s also going to hit country radio this week so keep your ears peeled to your favorite local radio station and let us know if you hear it!
The single was co-produced by Craig and Phil O’Donnell, and is one of his edgiest singles to date. It was co-written by Black River Publishing’s Josh Osborne (Kenny Chesney‘s “Come Over,” Kacey Musgraves‘ “Merry Go ‘Round”), Matt Ramsey (The Band Perry‘s “Chainsaw”), and TrevView postor Rosen (The Band Perry’s “Better Dig Two,” Chris Young‘s “Neon”).
It is no secret that we love Kelly Clarkson, and we’re pretty excited because radio officially played her new country single, “Tie It Up,” today! That means, studio quality audio has surfaced!
The song is very true to Clarkson’s life right now and her upcoming wedding. She will be marrying Starstruck talent manager, Brandon Blackstock, this fall.
“Tie It Up” was co-written with close friend and singer-songwriter, Ashley Arrison, Shane McAnally, and Josh Osborne. That’s a great songwriting team right there! The song is catchy and fun, and Clarkson’s vocals are always second to none. This is the three-time Grammy winner’s first up beat country single, and what a good choice it was. It has radio hit written all over it.
We are so thrilled that Clarkson is releasing more country music in addition to pop! The single is expected to be released to iTunes and other digital formats on June 25th.
Also, Clarkson is looking for fun wedding photos for the lyric video for “Tie It Up.” Tweet your pictures to @kelly_clarkson with #tieitupvideo. Kelly will be picking her favorites!
And now what we all have been waiting for… listen to “Tie It Up” below:
As we posted yesterday, Kelly Clarkson took the stage at LP Field last night during CMA Fest to world premiere her new single “Tie It Up.” The single art shows her coyly tied to a male companion, while wearing a bridal gown and veil, her real engagement ring on display. On the track, Clarkson mixes her typical powerhouse bluesy rock voice with cute lyrics about tying the knot. The song was written by Kelly Clarkson, Ashley Arrison, Shane McAnally & Josh Osborne.
Give a listen to the song below and let us know what you think! (Personally, we enjoy the “Woo”-s on the chorus!)
It must be tough being The Band Perry these days. They’ve got a prime touring gig with Rascal Flatts, a multi-week #1 hit and a forthcoming album, Pioneer. Additionally, it was just announced that “Better Dig Two” has been certified Platinum by the RIAA, for sales over one million copies. The song is both the first single off their hotly-anticipated new album, as well as the fastest-rising song of their career.
As they prepare to release Pioneer on April 2, the talented trio recently revealed their album tracklisting.
Country music icon Tim McGraw is revealing more details about his highly anticipated release “TWO LANES OF FREEDOM.” His first album for Big Machine Records will be released on Feb. 5, 2013 and is set to prove once again that on stage and on record, he remains dedicated to delivering music that is innovative, heartfelt and authentic.
“I feel like I’ve progressed in my work, and I’ve always strived to get better,” says McGraw. “On my last album, I was discovering some new sounds and new things that I wanted to do, scratching the surface of the direction I wanted to head. This album was a way to reach a little further back, to all that I’d done throughout my career, and bring both sides together—it’s a combination of that discovery, along with some rediscovery.”
“When we cut ‘Two Lanes of Freedom,’ there was such a freshness to it,” he says. “The track has this sort of Gaelic drive to it and really sets a palette for the whole record because it’s so visual—it has that summery, hazy image and I think that made the whole record open up for me.”
Congratulations to Kenny Chesney at the team at Blue Chair Records & Sony Music Nashville! His latest single “Come Over” from his “Welcome To The Fishbowl” album is officially gold after selling more than 500,000 copies digitally since its release. The single was certified gold by the RIAA and is the fastest-rising single of Kenny’s career, rising to number two on the Mediabase chart in only nine weeks. The album’s first single, a duet with Tim McGraw for “Feel Like A Rockstar,” was a top ten hit.
The single was co-written by Shane McAnally, Josh Osborne, and Sam Hunt. It’s a song that’s pretty personal to Kenny, who says:
‘”Come Over’ is one of the most emotionally universal songs I’ve ever recorded. When you break up with someone, you don’t break up all at once. You break up over time. And that’s the thread of the song. Letting go is hard.”
Kenny is out with Tim on their “Brothers Of The Sun Tour.” At their recent stop in Denver, Colorado, Kenny addressed the sold-out crowd with a personal message about the Aurora tragedy:
“Me and my road family are just like the rest of the nation, hurting with this city tonight. We love you, and we’re with you, and if you guys will let us, we want to let music start to heal this town just a little bit tonight.”
Kenny and Tim’s next stop is at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis and Browns Stadium in Cleveland.
