Miranda Lambert Premieres “Mama’s Broken Heart” Video

Screen Shot 2013-03-04 at 12.52.35 PM

Miranda Lambert shows off her acting skills in her new music video for “Mama’s Broken Heart,” where the singer goes a bit crazy after a breakup. The beginning of the video brings back memories of the Stepford Wives movie, as Miranda enters her fancy, upper-class home with her true southern jacked-to-Jesus hairdo. But, she has a bit of revenge up her sleeve. Once inside, she loses it and begins acting crazy. By the end of video, Miranda’s perfectly done-up hair is disheveled, her fishnet stockings are ripped, and her makeup is smeared all over her face.

My personal favorite scene is of her at the dining room table, making faces as she takes her anger out on her food. Check out the video below, and let us know what your favorite part is!

Kelly Clarkson Debuts New Song At CRS

In Nashville last week, the annual Country Radio Seminar (CRS) took place. Country music stars were out in abundance at various special events providing everyone in attendance with great performances, brand new songs, cool collaborations, and a whole lot of fun!

One of the biggest nights during CRS week is the Sony Boat Show, and Kelly Clarkson sure did wow the crowd this year!

Clarkson debuted a new song titled, “Ain’t Gonna Like This,” which she co-wrote with her long-time guitarist and close friend, Aben Eubanks. If you follow Clarkson’s career, you will know that a Clarkson-Eubanks collab always results in some great music.

In the song, Clarkson references her musical heroes and influences, and sings her love for all genres of music. “Singin’ what I’m feelin’ inside/I don’t care what it is, what you call it, here it is.” … If you don’t like Reba/If you don’t like Trisha/If you don’t like Aretha/I don’t even wanna meet ya/If none of my heroes make your list/Well then you ain’t gonna like this.” (Big thank-you to Aben Eubanks for the correct lyrics.)

To top off the excitement over the new country track, Clarkson had a little help from her friends, The Pistol Annies, who provided the background vocals for the performance.

Twitter was abuzz with compliments for the song as well as for Clarkson and the Annies. They even got a standing O!

Some of my favorite tweets from the night:

@JosephHudak3: @kelly_clarkson is playing the Sony boat and I may lose my mind. Her voice is That Good. #CRS2013 — Joseph Hudak

@shaunridder: It’s official, @kellyclarkson IS country. We love her. How can you not? #Adorable #CRS2013 @sonynashville — Shaun Ridder

@Linda1Ryan: Woah! @kelly_clarkson cutting it up with the @pistolannies #sonyboatshow #rockinmyworld — Linda Ryan

We hope this song is going to be released to country radio soon. It has the makings of a mega hit written all over it. With its rockin’ country soul vibe, it would be a great follow-up to her current hit ballad, “Don’t Rush.”

And no, Kelly, we don’t like the song… we love it!

There are not any high quality videos of the performance yet, but you can still hear most of the song and hear Clarkson wail some super high notes as only she can. Check it out below.

carrie underwood blown away tour pic

Exclusive Interview: New Artist Apryl Evans

aprylevans

It’s not everyday that you meet a mega-talented country singer from New Jersey. Yes, from the land of Snooki and the Situation, at least one person is keeping country music alive. She recorded her first EP “The Things You Left Behind” at Blackbird Studios, the home of Martina McBride and her voice and styling recall the likes of Martina & Sara Evans. We at Keepin’ It Country would like to introduce you to Apryl Evans. You may not know her name yet, but we promise you will.

KIC: For those readers who may be ‘meeting’ you for the first time in this blog, can you give us a little bit of a back story as to how you became a singer/songwriter?

AE: The story of how I ended up on this path actually starts way back when I was only nine years old and tried out to sing the part of Belle from Beauty and the Beast in a school concert, having no idea whether or not I even had a voice worth listening to. Well, needless to say, I ended up getting the part and my music teacher had no idea what kind of monster she had just created (laughs). For the longest time though, I just used my voice to sing at local concerts and high school/college events and what not, but that all changed the day I stumbled upon a songwriting group a few years ago and discovered that songwriting is such amazing therapy. Once that happened, I knew I needed to get my music recorded and share it with the world!

Country music fans are about to get a double dose of  Martina McBride. The country superstar will continue her highly acclaimed “One Night”  intimate theater tour throughout fall before embarking on her own Christmas-themed tour entitled “The Joy Of Christmas.”

Martina shares:

“I am extremely excited to get back out on the road this fall to continue our ‘ONE NIGHT’ tour. The reaction from fans this spring and summer has been fantastic. I have never done such an intimate tour before that allows me connect with my fans in such a close way.”

She’s excited for the Christmas tour for a pretty special reason. She continues:

“The Christmas season is by far the McBride family’s favorite time of the year. Holiday music is some of my most favorite to sing and it reminds me of the memories I have growing up that I’ve shared with my daughters. I have compiled all of my favorite Chistmas songs and will package them together in a fun concert for all.”
