Garth Brooks to Return to Croke Park

Garth Brooks

While eagerly awaiting the announcement of 2014 tour dates, fans of Garth Brooks now have even more to look forward to!

Before hitting the road on a world tour, Brooks will play two shows in Dublin, Ireland at Croke Park; a venue he sold out twice in 1997 and has not played since.

“Before we go back on tour in the Fall of 2014, I want to challenge myself, the band and crew,” explains Brooks. “In ’97, we were lucky enough to play Croke Park, the stadium was under construction. 130,000-plus of some of the greatest fans in the world. I was quoted then as saying, ‘When this stadium is finished, I would love to come back and try to fill it again…this time to the brink’ — and we’re back to do just that.”

The country music legend made this announcement today in the Dublin venue, calling the event occurring July 25 and 26 “The Garth Brooks Comeback Special”. Tickets for both shows can be purchased through Ticketmaster beginning Thursday, January 30.

This special event is the perfect kick off to Brooks’ highly anticipated world tour beginning this fall. The superstar is surely up to the challenge and ready to make his dream of filling the stadium again a reality. We can’t wait to see what he has in store for us next!

On Sunday night, Garth Brooks took the stage at the Kennedy Center Honors to honor his longtime friend and 2013 honoree, Billy Joel. Brooks performed a pair of Joel’s hits, “Allentown” and “Goodnight Saigon.”

While “Allentown” was rousing, it was “Goodnight Saigon” that is sure to give you chills, as Brooks is joined by a chorus of military vets, who received a rousing standing ovation.

Garth Brooks to Perform Four New Year’s Shows at the Wynn Las Vegas

Garth wynn

After more than four years of sold out one-man shows inside the Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas and a top-rated live television concert event this past Thanksgiving Weekend, Wynn Las Vegas is proud to announce a Garth Brooks show like Las Vegas has never seen! Garth Brooks: The Man, His Band and His Music, will take place on January 3rd and 4th, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. “I’ve been itching for the chance to bring my band to Vegas to play this room,” said Garth. “I can’t wait. Steve Wynn told me I could use the theater anytime. I asked him when I could start and his response was, ‘How about New Year’s Eve?’”

Review: Garth Brooks Live from Las Vegas!

Garth Brooks Las Vegas

This past Friday night, Garth Brooks‘ Las Vegas show aired live on CBS from The Wynn to fans’ delight, and the highly anticipated television special certainly did not disappoint! With 8.7 million viewers spending their Black Friday nights curled up on their couches, watching one of country music’s best, the special doubled Lady Gaga’s recently aired Muppets event. Clearly fans do not live by the old cliche “out of sight, out of mind,” and are eagerly awaiting the day Garth announces that he will be bringing his show back out on the road!

Clad in work boots, baggy jeans, a hoodie, and a Wynn Las Vegas baseball cap, Garth owned the stage on which he was only accompanied by a guitar. With stories from his childhood and brief covers of songs on which he grew up, Garth entertained the live and television audiences with his sense of humor, charisma, and stellar vocals. While sharing tales about his large family and their many adventures during Garth’s childhood (such as riding shotgun and fearing for his life as his mother’s lead foot took over the vehicle), Garth covered some of the influential songs that impacted his career. The show could best be classified as “stand-up comedy … with a guitar.”

Garth also “surprised” the audience with a cameo by his superstar country vocalist wife, Trisha Yearwood, who joined her husband on stage for a performance of the couple’s “In Another’s Eyes.” Before leaving the stage, Trisha also gave us a brief sampling of one of her most infamous songs “She’s In Love With the Boy.” Luckily for us diehard Garth fans, we were also blessed with performances (albeit mere clips) of some of Garth’s oldies and goodies, including “Somewhere Other Than the Night” and party classic “Friends In Low Places.” Perhaps the most incredible moment of the night, at least for this particular huge Garth fan, was the performance of “Shameless.” Not only does Garth own the Billy Joel cover every time the words slip through his lips, but during this specific performance, Garth let go of his true and tried stage companion (his acoustic guitar), and sang a portion of the song a cappella. At that point, 8.7 million hearts simultaneously melted.

The two-hour event was a blast from the past, as well as a glimpse into the future, of Garth’s country career and left fans craving more … especially to the tune of a 2014 tour. Between the release of Garth’s eight-disc Blame It All On My Roots boxed set and the live airing of his final Las Vegas show, fans are buzzing about the possibility of Garth coming out of “retirement,” hitting the road, and sharing his music — new and old — with country music fans across the world.

Not only did fans of country music sit with their eyes glued to their televisions on Friday night, but Garth’s peers in the country music industry tuned in to watch their beloved idol entertain the masses. Below are some of our favorite reaction tweets from country musicians:

@DierksBentley: still the man… #garthbrooks

@carrieunderwood: Loving this #GarthBrooks special! Saw the show in Vegas a few years ago…so much joy and love for music! #Inspired #FellowOkie

@TheSwonBrothers: Who does Chuck Norris fear?? #GarthBrooks

@KCMuessigmann: Garth Brooks is the single greatest entertainer EVER born. Biggest influence on my music, as well as every other mid-20’s artist out there.

‏@jodeemessina: OMG! Watching Garth special. He is amazing! Some people have just “got it”. Ha. He just happens to have a LOT of it. Rock on Garth! Xoxo

@TheFarmMusic: That’s about as good as it gets folks …a true entertainer. #Garth

‏@johnrich: Watching #Garth right now. Country music’s Elvis! Also, I never realized how much he and @glennbeck look alike. Am I right?

@mallaryhope: Garth Brooks is the best ever. The end

@WillHoge: there’s some jackass on CBS TOTALLY ripping off Chris Gaines right now. He should sue this dude

@cavanaughmusic: Garth brooks is the man for a reason

If anything became evident during this event, it is that “retirement” has not affected the stunning vocals of this iconic performer, nor has time away from the limelight hindered his ability to bring a memorable show to his fans. Here’s to hoping that Garth is ready to travel the world again for one more “Rodeo”!

Garth Brooks being sued

Garth Brooks.

Garth Brooks is being sued by a former business partner. The country icon is facing the heat against Lisa Sanderson, reports TMZ, for unpaid salary, bonuses, and and punitive damages. She worked with Garth for over 20 years as a television producer to help jump-start his acting career, and she is claiming that it was Garth himself who stopped him from roles in “Saving Private Ryan,” and “Twister.” She also claims that he killed deals with Disney, Fox, and many others because of the way he acted or because of his demands.

The lawsuit was filed by Marty Singer and Allison Hart. Lisa is asking for $425,000 from Garth, claiming she was lied to about the salary she’d receive if she stuck around.

George Strait & Garth Brooks to Perform Together at the ACMs

george-strait-garth-brooks-acm-awards-2013

In exciting ACM news, The Academy of Country Music and dick clark productions announced that George Strait and Garth Brooks will perform together for the first time ever to pay tribute to Dick Clark. Strait & Brooks are the two most recent recipients of the ACM Artist of the Decade Award. The ACM Artist of the Decade Award will be renamed the ACM Dick Clark Artist of the Decade Award, in honor of the iconic figure and longtime producer of the ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS. The show will air live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 7 at 8PM EST on CBS.

“Dick helped make country music accessible to a larger fan base and his efforts will not be forgotten. Garth and I were so grateful when we each received the ACM Artist of the Decade Award, so it’s only fitting that we’ll be honoring him with this tribute performance at the ACMs,” said George Strait.

Garth added, “I commend the Academy on naming the ACM Artist of the Decade Award after Dick Clark.  Although there is no award the entertainment industry has that can match the magnitude of the star Dick Clark was, and still is, it is an honor to get to be a part of the Academy’s tribute to him.  There may be others who have contributed as much to the music industry, but there is definitely no one that has contributed more than Dick Clark.  He was music’s best friend, and a dear friend to me.”

Previous recipients of the ACM Artist of the Decade Award include Strait in 2009, Brooks in 1998, Alabama in 1988, Loretta Lynn in 1979 and Marty Robbins in 1969. The ACM Dick Clark Artist of the Decade Award is an Academy honor bestowed on a country music artist only once every decade.

Garth Brooks Coming To Canada!

Garth Brooks.

We didn’t see this one coming! In what might just be the biggest Canadian festival announcement of 2012, the Calgary Stampede has announced that country music legend Garth Brooks will perform with a full band on July 12th, 2012. Tickets, which probably won’t last long, will go on-sale Tuesday at noon local time. It’s the 100th anniversary of the historic event, and looks like they’ve picked the perfect man to help celebrate it with.

The Stampede takes place July 6th to the 15th this year. Other announced performers so far include Brad Paisley and The Band Perry.

Garth Brooks, Connie Smith & Hargus Robbins Are Hall Of Fame Bound

Garth Brooks.

The Country Music Association announced today their three newest members to the Hall of Fame. Garth Brooks, Connie Smith and Hargus “Pig” Robbins will be inducted in ceremonies later this year. Garth will be part of the “Modern Era Artist” category, Connie in the “Veterans Era Artist” category, and Hargus in the “Recording And/Or Touring Musician Active Prior to 1980″ category. Hargus’ category is only added to every third year, usually rotated with the “Non-Performer” and the “Songwriter” categories. These three additions will increase the total members of the Country Music Hall of Fame from 115 to 118 members.

Garth was a little overwhelmed over the honor, thinking first about many other artists that he felt are just as deserving to be given the title:

“I am astounded and honored to be in the Country Music Hall of Fame. At the same time, I can’t help but feel guilty going in when there are so many deserving artists that came before me who are yet to be inducted.”

Hargus is feeling just as lucky over the news. On relieving the call:

“I just couldn’t believe it the other day when Steve Moore called and informed me that I had been chosen to become one of the new members of the Country Music Hall of Fame. All I could say was ‘thank you, thank you, thank you!’ Well, I have always considered myself lucky, and I guess my good luck has struck again. I am so honored to be named one of the new members.”

Connie has performed at a few inductions over the years, but never did she think she would have her own:

“I’ve had the privilege of participating in several Hall of Fame inductions. They were all very special. But now to become a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame myself is an honor for me and my family. So touching, it’s difficult to find the words to express my gratitude.”

Congratulations to all three inductees! They are all very deserving. A date for their induction will be announced later this year.
