Dierks Bentley Releases RISER BIRD Game in Celebration of RISER Album

Riser bird

Fans of the short-lived game Flappy Bird will love Dierks Bentley’s version of the game dubbed RISER BIRD.  The game replaces the little yellow flapping bird with the thunderbird image that has grown to represent Bentley’s current project.

“There are so many addicting games about birds right now, and we thought it would be funny to create our own RISER BIRD game,” explains Bentley. “I’m all about finding interesting ways to get music out to the fans, and this is just supposed to be fun.”

The game is available online in celebration of Bentley’s album RISER, released on Tuesday.  Not only can fans enjoy playing the game, but they can also preview Bentley’s new music while playing.

With all this fun, the game could easily become another one of those addicting bird games Bentley described. Good thing too because gamers are eligible for some awesome prizes!  One grand prize winner will win a trip to attend Bentley’s RISER TOUR rehearsal in Nashville, while five additional fans will win autographed copies of RISER.

Think you’re ready to rise to the challenge? Take on RISER BIRD here. If you love the game and the music you hear while playing, buy Dierks Bentley’s latest album here!

Review: Dierks Bentley ‘RISER’

dierks-bentley-riser
From the opening strains of “Bourbon in Kentucky,” the mood is set for RISER, an album that Dierks Bentley describes as his most personal yet. Although the opening track was released as a single, it never quite took off, but sets the mood for an album of depth and reflection, sprinkled with humor and all held together by Bentley’s gravelly rasp.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Bentley admits that this album comes from a different place than many of his others. Although previous endeavors touched on the heartbreak that ultimately comes with dating and relationships, this album comes from a different heartbreak, the death of his father, and the instability of life with the birth of his third child. “The record I had originally made, my dad was alive at the time and my wife and I had two kids. Life was stabilized,” Bentley says to the magazine. “And then all of a sudden my dad passed away. Then my wife got pregnant and my son was coming, which was just a whole mix of emotions for me.”

The album is truly a journey through Bentley’s psyche, highlighted immediately by his current single “I Hold On” and the equally-reflective “Here On Earth.” The former has Bentley clinging to things such as his old truck, his first guitar, his faith and his wife, while the latter was inspired by the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting and asks the bigger questions about life. “The only answer I’ve found for all this hurt,” Bentley sings, “Is there ain’t no answers here on Earth.”

Dierks Bentley Reveals RISER Track List

Dierks-Bentley-Riser
We’re less than one month away from the release of Dierks Bentley‘s seventh studio album, RISER. The album, hitting stores February 25, will show a more emotional side of Dierks, as its his first release since the death of his father and the birth of his first son.

The album was produced by Ross Copperman and Arturo Buenahora Jr., and includes a bevy of famous friends, including Kacey Musgraves, Chris Stapleton, The Cadillac Three‘s Jaren Johnston and Charlie Worsham.

“It’s important to really know the writers and musicians you work with, to hang out with them and live in the same world,” Bentley explains.  “I have such a romance with Nashville and this community. I drove across the country when I was 19 years old with a dream of just being invited to the party. It’s still wild to me that I get to work with and call so many incredibly talented people my friends.”

Sonically, the album will ring true to a Bentley concert. “It’s the sound in my head that I hear when I’m playing a live show,” said Bentley. “You have one ear monitor in, one ear out, and the crowd’s there and your voice feels really great. There’s a certain amount of gravel to it because you’re tired, but you’re all jacked up on whatever you’re drinking and adrenaline, and the crowds and the fans are there and there’s this feeling, fists in the air—it’s that thing that’s hard to transfer into a studio environment. There’s a rawness.”

Dierks Bentley Sets “RISER” Release Date for February 25

Dierks-Bentley-Riser

Dierks Bentley‘s highly-anticipated new album, RISER, will hit stores on February 25, 2014. It is Bentley’s seventh studio album and will continue his trend of lyrical substance and pure sonic power combined with his distinct country voice. The album’s lead single, “I Hold On,” is currently climbing the country charts.

“I named the album RISER because the lyrics in that song perfectly articulate who I want to be, who I try to be,” Bentley explains. “There’s a lot of really intense material on this record, but there’s also a lighter side that is equally important in telling the story of the last two years of my life.  When I first started writing for this album, I was in a place of grief over the loss of my dad, but over the course of the next 18 months, my wife and I had our son Knox, and I ended in a place of real joy and gratefulness.  Both sides of that coin are what country music has always been about, and I hope that my fans can feel how much of myself I put into this project. It’s all out on the table, for sure.”

Dierks Bentley Releases “I Hold On” As Lead Single from “Riser”!

dierks bentley

In advance of Dierks Bentley‘s forthcoming album, Riser, the award-winning singer/songwriter released his new single “I Hold On” to country radio. The track was written by Bentley and Brett James, pinning spiritual questions to material symbols with a personal touch.

“If you asked me to sum myself up in three minutes, I’d play ‘I Hold On’ for you.  At first listen, you might think it’s about my truck or my guitar, but it’s really about why I do some of the things I do and the kind of guy I am,” explains Bentley. “The chorus is really universal…it’s about faith, love and freedom…I don’t think there’s a country fan out there who doesn’t live with those as big priorities.  I hope through this song I’m able to let the fans into my heart and my mind a little more, and that they can also relate it back to themselves and their own lives.”

USA Today is offering fans a behind the scenes look at the making of “I Hold On.” To watch, click here.
