Craig Morgan helps out at highway wreck

craig morgan

Black River Entertainment’s Craig Morgan pulled over at the scene of a car wreck on I-40 in Tennessee on the weekend. Three tractor trailers were involved in the accident near Humphrey’s County on June 9th. Craig, along with his crew members, performed CPR and first aid on victims, as well as extinguishing a small fire.

According the sheriff, Craig did exactly what they would have hoped a good Samaritan would. In an interview with a local news station, the Sheriff said:

“He responded and did exactly what he had been taught to do and was a huge help. This is just another example of the kind of guy he is, he loves doing things for others.”

This wasn’t the first time Craig had stopped to help someone else in danger. A few years ago he had bravely run into a burning building to save two teenaged girls.

craig morgan

Country Music star Craig Morgan and special guest, Sarah Darling, will lend their talented voices to the 14th annual St. Jude Country Music Marathon & ½ Marathon presented by Nissan. Continuing the tradition of combining great country music with Nashville’s premier running event, Morgan and Darling will cap the weekend of festivities with a post-race concert at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. CST on Saturday, April 27.

The musically themed road race attracts more than 30,000 runners, walkers and 6,000 junior racers through ING KiDS ROCK Nashville, who will take on the 26.2 and 13.1-mile courses while passing many of Nashville’s best live bands along the route.

Complimentary concert tickets are provided to all registered runners and volunteers. Runners may purchase additional tickets for $35.

Craig had this to say about his support for the race:

“As a Nashville area native, I’m proud to represent Country Music and St. Jude and give all the runners a chance to let loose after the big race. Save up some energy for the end of the night because we’re gonna make sure you leave Music City with a lot of great memories!”

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, one of the world’s premier centers for the research and treatment of childhood cancer and other deadly diseases, is the official benefiting charity of the St. Jude Country Music Marathon & ½ Marathon. Again this year, participants registered for the race are encouraged to also sign up as St. Jude Heroes and Run For a Reason®. St. Jude Heroes, a special group who raise incremental funds for the hospital by securing donations from family, friends and co-workers, are instrumental in supporting the $1.8 million per day it takes to run the hospital. Thanks to the generosity of donors, no family ever pays St. Jude for anything. St. Jude covers the cost of treatment, travel, lodging and food for each patient and a family member.

Kellie Pickler Signs With Black River Entertainment

Kellie Pickler.

Kellie Pickler has finally found a new home! The country music sweetheart was just announced this morning as the newest addition to the artist roster at Black River Entertainment. The label is already home to Craig Morgan, Due West, Glen Templeton, and Sarah Darling.

Gordon Kerr, CEO of Black River Entertainment, was pretty excited about the announcement. He shares:

“What’s not to love about Kellie? She’s real, she adores her fans, she’s rooted in and committed to country music and she’s genuine.  How can you ask for more than that?”

Kellie added exactly why she chose the label for her new home. She left Sony Music Nashville earlier this year.

“In looking for a label partner, I was really drawn to the Black River family because they hold similar values that I do.  From our initial meeting, it was clear to me how much the entire team respects the artists’ musical vision, and I’m really looking forward to getting back into the studio to record and release new music to country radio.”

Kellie released her latest album “100 Proof” earlier this year. Only two singles were sent to radio from the album – lead off single “Tough” followed by the title track. “100 Proof” was produced by Miranda Lambert producer Frank Liddell and shows off the real country side of the North Carolina native.
