Mustached Man Monday for Movember

Chris Janson

Today, on this Monday in Movember, we introduce you to Chris Janson. Chris is, ironically, in the process of growing out his facial hair in honor of this month, so it definitely made sense for us to spotlight this spirited new artist!

Chris Janson began collaborating as a songwriter at eighteen years of age with classic rock band, Guns N’ Roses. In 2009, Chris recorded two duets with Holly Williams, granddaughter of Hank Williams, Sr., on her album Here with Me. Instead of heading to veterinary school, which was his original plan, Chris made the move that many musicians before him likewise made — the move to Nashville, Tennessee.

So, who can you expect to see at the Fremont Street Experience, performing on this monster screen? An incredible line-up consisting of co-headliners Gary Allan and Jake Owen, along with Randy Houser, Chris Janson, Jana Kramer, Kip Moore, Joe Nichols and Sunny Sweeney!

The Bobby Bones Show is now in Nashville!

Last Tuesday, February 19th, we here at Keepin’ It Country had the pleasure of welcoming Mr. Bobby Bones to Nashville! The press conference took place at the Ford Theater in the Country Music Hall of Fame, where Bobby and his radio crew answered questions and took photos with some of Bobby’s favorite country stars, who were invited to help welcome him to his new city.

To start off the conference, Brad Paisley (although he couldn’t be there in attendance) shared a special video message announcing that he would be Bobby’s first guest on Monday, February 25th. The Big 98′s AntMan and Amy Paige then hosted a question & answer session with Bobby, opening up questions to anyone in attendance. Some of the country stars in attendance at the conference were Brett Eldridge, Charlie Worsham, Chris Janson, Craig Campbell, Dustin Lynch, Eric Paslay, The Farm, Gloriana, Greg Bates, Jake Owen, Jana Kramer, Joe Nichols, Joel Crouse, Josh Thompson, Jon Pardi, Kristin Kelly, and Parmalee.

“Thank you guys all for coming, it really means a lot to me and I’m gonna play your records a whole lot more since you’re here” Bobby joked, to all the artists who took their time to attend.

Bobby informed us that he grew up on country and he already feels at home in the transition from hosting on Top 40 radio to Country. ”To entertain and be with country music, it just feels so natural, and I feel like there is a big wide open avenue for a show like ours that makes people laugh, that relates and identifies with the new generation of country. I think that’s our goal and that’s what we’re set here to do.”

The Bobby Bones Show first started in Austin, TX in 2003. It debuted in Nashville on February 18th, 2013 and is now syndicated on Country radio stations nationwide. You can tune in Monday through Friday from 5 to 10am central time.

We’re glad to have you here in Nashville, Bobby! You can check out our photos from the event below!

Tim McGraw album details!

Tim McGraw.

Country music icon Tim McGraw is revealing more details about his highly anticipated release “TWO LANES OF FREEDOM.”  His first album for Big Machine Records will be released on Feb. 5, 2013 and is set to prove once again that on stage and on record, he remains dedicated to delivering music that is innovative, heartfelt and authentic.

“I feel like I’ve progressed in my work, and I’ve always strived to get better,” says McGraw. “On my last album, I was discovering some new sounds and new things that I wanted to do, scratching the surface of the direction I wanted to head. This album was a way to reach a little further back, to all that I’d done throughout my career, and bring both sides together—it’s a combination of that discovery, along with some rediscovery.”
On “TWO LANES OF FREEDOM,” the sense of nostalgia comes through on the hard-driving current single “One of Those Nights.”  The reverie of that song, though, is countered by the humor and joy of “Southern Girl” or the feel-good hangover of “Mexicoma.”  McGraw maintains that it was the album’s title track that really established the tone for the entire project.
“When we cut ‘Two Lanes of Freedom,’ there was such a freshness to it,” he says. “The track has this sort of Gaelic drive to it and really sets a palette for the whole record because it’s so visual—it has that summery, hazy image and I think that made the whole record open up for me.”
McGraw reaches some especially emotional depth in his performances on such songs as “Number 37405,” the lament of a singer-turned-convict.  Most powerful of all might be “Book of John,” a wistful account of a family going through the journal left behind by its late patriarch. The album closes with “Highway Don’t Care,” a breezy yet complex track that features Taylor Swift (the song is featured as number 13 on the album as a nod to her) and Keith Urban.

Tim McGraw.

Tim McGraw‘s first single on Big Machine Records is turning into a little bit of a big deal. The country music superstar’s “Truck Yeah” is the highest debut of his career at number 22 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart, and number 25 on the Mediabase / Country Aircheck chart for his highest solo debut ever. His previous best was in 2002 with “Grown Men Don’t Cry” at number 30. “Truck Yeah” was the most added song on country music radio with 99 stations reporting in as playing the single.

“Country radio has given me an amazing career already,” said McGraw.  “I’m 20 years into it, so to be having my highest chart debut ever is such a cool thing.   I can’t thank everyone in radio enough for the support they’ve shown me over the years and especially now as I’m starting a new chapter with a new label.   It means more to me than ever…the best is really yet to come!”

Tim’s next tour stop is with Kenny is this weekend at the Angels Stadium in Anaheim, California on Saturday, and Oakland’s O.co Coliseum on Sunday night. For a full list of tour dates visit timmcgraw.com.
