Two members of Lady Antebellum took time off of their busy schedules to visit patients at Kravis Children’s Hospital in New York as part of Musicians On Call (MOC). Dave Haywood and Charles Kelley gave an intimate performance which included their own songs, and some favorite kid-friendly tunes. Their acoustic set was broadcast on Mount Sinai’s KidZone TV, and they answered questions from the children in attendance. The group also made a donation to LadyAID, their charity, and MOC. LadyAID is their foundation, which was founded to raise awareness and generate support for the plight of children locally, nationally, and globally who cannot help themselves.

After their performance, Dave and Charles visited children at their bedsides in the pediatric unit who were unable to attend the performance. Check out the pictures below of their performance and let us know what you think of their new album “Golden” which was released earlier this week.

Lady Antebellum releasing Goodbye Town

On the heels of their multi-week chart-topping lead single “Downtown,” GRAMMY winning trio Lady Antebellum released “Goodbye Town” yesterday as the second single off their fourth studio album GOLDEN - out TODAY. The result of a session between Haywood, Kelley, Scott and Josh Kear, “Goodbye Town” was written backstage during the trio’s OWN THE NIGHT 2012 WORLD TOUR.

About writing the song, Charles shared:

“Josh came out to see us on the road because that’s where we did so much of the writing for this album. There’s just something about this song that I think people can relate to. It’s that time after a breakup when everything about a place reminds you of that person, so all you want to do is just get the hell out of there. We really wanted the production to reflect that almost haunting feeling.”

Lady A kicks off GOLDEN release week tomorrow with performances slated for Good Morning America, The Ellen DeGeneres Show and two nights on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, as well as an exclusive and intimate release show at New York City’s newest hot spot The McKittrick Hotel for the Lady Antebellum GOLDEN Release Show presented by Citi.

Lady Antebellum races up the charts

Lady Antebellum.

It might be hard to believe, but country super-trio Lady Antebellum has the fastest charting song of their career with “Downtown.” The GRAMMY-winning group’s single has taken over the top spots on Billboard and Mediabase country charts, while also selling more than 500,000 copes digitally since its release – giving them a RIAA-certified gold single.   “Downtown” has already spent the last two weeks at number one here in Canada.

The lead single from their upcoming album “Golden” has been huge out of the gate. The fun, groovy-tune reminds them of their previous single “American Honey,” explains Charles Kelley:

“Most of what the world has seen from Hillary from a radio single standpoint is this very sweet kind of style like ‘American Honey. But, she’s got a lot of sass and a lot of grit to her voice, too, so it’s been really fun to bring that out of her and have this kind of support from our fans and radio.”

Make sure to tune in this week to The Voice on NBC to catch Hillary Scott acting as a mentor to team Adam for the Battle Rounds. Have you been watching The Voice this season? Which team do you think has the best chance to win this year?

Lady Antebellum Inspired By Tour

The seven-time GRAMMY winning trio Lady Antebellum received a dose of inspiration while out on the road. In fact, it was enough to inspire their upcoming album, Golden.

The singers note how the bond between themselves and their fans while touring was quite inspirational. But equally important was the time offstage in which they experimented and created music with their road band.

“We were just kind of in that live show mindset for this album,” said Lady A’s Dave Haywood. “We had that perspective of being on a tour and having seen what translates in an arena. We have a better idea what kind of songs are so relatable where it shakes everybody like, ‘Oh, my God, I’ve totally been there.’”
“Every band I love that’s been here for a long time has reinvented itself in some way,” added Charles Kelley. “There’s a balance to it. I get a little annoyed when people reinvent themselves too much because there’s a reason people fell in love with you in the first place, but I think it’s important not to regurgitate the same stuff over and over again.”
“Downtown,” the lead single off the upcoming album, is definitely an indication of the energetic, playful direction that the album will take. Moreover, Golden is notably cleaner in terms of its production with fewer instruments used during recording.
“We embraced risk,” noted Hillary Scott. “When you are pushing yourself to not go back to the same well, you’re gonna come up with something different, or you’ll find songs that are different. And that’s what happened on this album.”
Undoubtedly, the mix of experiences on the road and songwriting has paved the way to a brightness that is reflected in Golden. The album is set to be released May 7th.

1. Get To Me

Lady Antebellum to release Golden on May 7th

Lady Antebellum.

From Good Morning America’s New York City studio this morning, seven-time GRAMMY winning trio Lady Antebellum announced the release of their fourth Capitol Nashville studio album GOLDEN, available in stores on May 7.

Charles Kelley shared:

“This album feels to me like one of those that from start to finish could be a good road-trip record and that’s what we wanted. It’s one of the reasons why the term ‘golden’ was kind of cool. I think about road trips and driving down the road with those little streaks of sunshine popping through the trees, especially at sunset. ‘Golden’…it just gives you this warm, easy feeling.”

Hillary Scott added:

“Writing and recording this record really took us back to when we first met each other. When I first met the boys, we spent a lot of time around the piano at the house they lived in at the time. We didn’t really know each other at all, but there was still some magic and then the harmonies – that’s how it all started – that blend of our voices and that blend of our songwriting craft. So, it’s exciting that even on our fourth record, we can still find that.”

The new album’s lead single “Downtown” already stormed the Country radio charts, becoming the trio’s career highest charting debut. People noted “this preview of Lady A’s next album is slinky, sexy fun…crazy-catchy and downright soulful.”

On picking out the title for their fourth studio album, Dave Haywood said:

“The word ‘golden’ to me conjures up a lot of pictures. In the title track, it depicts driving down the road at sunset but, to me, it also depicts a special time in our career…a ‘golden,’ special time for us. We definitely want to value this time in our careers because it’s such a treasure that we can still sit in a room and write songs together. I personally feel so humbled to still be making records that people are excited to hear.”

Lady A’s previous three studio albums have paved the way for GOLDEN, which follows over 11 million album sales, six career No. one hits and seven GRAMMY awards. Last year alone, more than one million fans in over 11 countries welcomed the ACM and CMA award-winning trio on their headlining tour. Lady Antebellum to Release Documentary DVD

Lady-Antebellum

Country music’s super-trio Lady Antebellum will be releasing a documentary-style DVD for fans. While there’s no release date set yet for the DVD, it features live footage from a concert stop in Little Rock, Arkansas. The “Own The Night” DVD aims to show fans what life really is like on the road for the group, and will combine the behind-the-scenes footage with their live show.

Charles Kelley shares:

“To me, the most entertaining parts of watching things and bands is what goes on behind the scenes. So, there’s a lot of that.”

The group is busy working on the release of their upcoming Christmas album “On This Winter’s Night” on October 22nd. Will you be picking up the DVD when it comes out?

Lady Antebellum Reveal Christmas Album Details

Lady Antebellum.

Looks like we’re getting a lot more Christmas spirit this October. Country music super-trio Lady Antebellum have revealed plans and a track listing for their brand new Christmas album “On This Winter’s Night,” which will hit digital and physical music retailers on October 22nd.

The group’s Hillary is pretty excited about releasing her own holiday album for country music fans. She shares:

“I love the excitement, the child-like spirit of innocence and just about everything that goes along with Christmas. My little sister will be 12 this Christmas and it is always so sweet to see her wake up every Christmas morning and wonder what Santa brought her. It was that way for me growing up and it’s so amazing to be able to spend that time with her now.”

Charles Kelley adds:

“The perfect winter’s night for me would be with all the family together.  As you get a little older and everybody has their jobs and then families and kids, it definitely becomes harder to get everybody together at once. It would be pretty special to have the whole family in the room and get back to where we were as kids…all waking up on Christmas morning, walking down and having that tradition.”

Dave Haywood explains how the album came together:

“We recorded this album in two sections, but both times were in the summertime. It is always weird to be in the studio working on Christmas music in June and July, so we decorated the entire studio, we really did. We brought out lights, fake trees and decorated the place to get in the Christmas spirit. You’d leave the studio, and it’d be 100 degrees out in Nashville, but nonetheless, a great experience.“

Between legs of their “OWN THE NIGHT 2012 WORLD TOUR” earlier this year, Lady A hit the studio in Nashville to record the new collection where they also return as co-producers alongside veteran producer Paul Worley. For the festive release, the trio penned the album’s title track and created their own arrangements for two of the disc’s additional 11 holiday classics.

jason aldean & lady antebellum

It’s that time of year again, country music fans! The Country Music Association has just announced that superstars Jason Aldean and Lady Antebellum will announced the CMA Awards nominees live on ABC on Wednesday, September 5th. The two acts will announce the final nominations for the “46th Annual Country Music Association Awards” live on Good Morning America.

The awards themselves will once again be co-hosted by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley live from the Bridgestone Arena in downtown Nashville, Tennessee on November 1st. Jason and Lady A’s announcement is of the to-air nominees going into the award show.

Jason and Lady A’s segment will air in the 8:30 am EST hour of the morning show. They’ll announce five nominees in that first appearance live in the ABC studios, and then the rest at 9:15 am EST at the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square in New York City. This is the first time since 2005 that all CMA Awards nominations will be announced in New York City.

“The CMA Awards are ‘Country Music’s Biggest Night™,’ and it’s something that all of us look forward to all year. From the day the nominations are announced up until the show, there’s a lot of build-up and anticipation for the Awards and also for the performances,” explained Aldean. “I feel honored to be able to help make the nominations announcement on ‘Good Morning America,’ and hopefully I’ll get to read some of my friends’ names that morning.”

Lady Antebellum are equally as excited to be part of Country Music’s Biggest Night:

“I’ll never forget our first CMA nomination and what that felt like,” added Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley. “The CMAs have been really good to us the last few years, and it’s still unbelievable to me when I see our name on a list of nominees. That night is always such a blast because it’s your chance to catch up with everyone and celebrate Country Music and all the hard work put in throughout the year.”

Lee Brice will be in Nashville to announce the finalists for the broadcast CMA awards. The final ballot for CMA members starts October 4th to determine the winners of the night. Who do you hope gets nominated and who do you think will win?
