CELEBRITY DEATH MATCH: Kelly Clarkson v. Clive Davis

kcclive

As you have likely heard, Clive Davis used nineteen pages of his memoir to share “stories” about Kelly Clarkson and his “experiences” working with her during her time under his wing. Mind you, we use the words “stories” and “experiences” loosely here, as Kelly rebutted the allegations Clive made in his book, explaining that his recollection contained “lapses and misinformation”.

You probably know that Clive Davis is a huge music mogul (and egomaniac?) who has been credited for many artists’ careers, including  Aretha Franklin, Barry Manilow, Christina Aguilera, Carlos Santana, Jennifer Hudson, and the late great Whitney Houston. Clive has also been credited for his hand in Kelly’s career, before she parted ways after some artistic differences. Kelly, as you very well are aware, won Season 1 of American Idol and was catapulted into fame, never allowing anybody to change her or tell her there was something she could not do. And, not surprisingly at all, Kelly’s hunches have never served her wrong, as she continues to be a hitmaking, album selling, touring, award-winning artist over ten years after we first met her on the Idol stage.

Several artists have spoken out since yesterday when Clive’s memoir was released and Kelly spoke up about his “memories” of their encounters and working relationship. Martina McBride, Jennifer Nettles, and Chely Wright have all declared their membership on Team Kelly. So, we ask you — whose team are you on (Team Kelly or Team Clive) and which musicians have you seen vocalize where their loyalties lie? Help us figure out who will win this celebrity death match! Our money is on our girl, Kelly!

Here are just a few of our fave country celeb tweets:

Blair Garner To Give Listeners A Day In The Life View of Scotty McCreery

Blair-BlueShirt-col-low-res

After MidNite host Blair Garner will make his way to Garner, N.C., hometown of Season 10 American Idol Winner Scotty McCreery, on Friday, May 4th, to spend a day in Scotty’s life. Garner will sit down for a conversation with Scotty about his journey from being a typical high school teen, to winning season 10 of American Idol and becoming a country star on the rise. Since we all know Scotty loves his baseball, Garner will attend one of McCreery’s baseball games, followed by a dinner gathering at the McCreery home, where he will speak candidly with McCreery’s family, teammates, fans, high school principal and “Miss Garner 2012″ Johna Edmonds. Exclusive audio and video from the special visit will be featured on After MidNite and www.AfterMidNite.com next week.

“Scotty has had such an impact on the country music world as an American Idol winner AND for prioritizing his education while pursuing a career in the music industry,” said Garner, who recently discovered his ancestors settled in Garner, North Carolina.  “We thought it would be fun to go and catch Scotty in his own backyard for a change instead of having him come to our studio.  The town has really rolled out the red carpet for us, and we can’t wait to meet everyone and catch Scotty on the field!”

McCreery, who put high school on hold to audition for American Idol, made chart history by becoming the first country artist to debut an album at number one the Billboard 200 chart.  He was recently honored as the fan-voted “New Artist of the Year” at the 2012 ACM Awards.  McCreery has also received two 2012 Billboard Music Award nominations for the all-genre “Top New Artist” and “Top Country Album” for Clear As Day, and a 2012 CMT Music Award nomination in the “USA Weekend Breakthrough Video of the Year” category for his The Trouble With Girls video.  After finishing up his concert tour with Brad Paisley this spring, McCreery decided to return to Garner Magnet High School to complete his senior year and reprise his role as the varsity baseball team’s relief pitcher.

Blair Garner Releases Album “Beyond The Hits”

Carrie Underwood. photo credit: Matthew Rolston

The host of Premiere Radio Networks’ “After Midnite With Blair Garner will be releasing an album featuring the country music stars he’s had on his syndicated program over the last few years. “Beyond The Hits: 20 Years From Country’s Top Stars” will be available January 10th from Blair’s production company Tripower.

Artists featured on the album include Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood, Alan Jackson, Miranda Lambert, Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley and many more of country’s biggest stars.

“It’s no understatement to say I am a fan of country music,” said Blair. “Not just a fan of the artists, but a fan of everyone involved: the songwriters, musicians, producers, all of it. Obviously not all the songs get the spotlight of being a single; it just doesn’t work that way. Because of that I think some songs may not get their fair share of attention. Beyond The Hits looks to change that. We want fans to realize the sheer depth and brilliance of these artists. Every cut on Beyond could have been, in my opinion, a number one. I’m just lucky to be the guy to bring them to light.”

The album will be available for $9.99 on iTunes on January 10th. A portion of purchases will go towards various charities he supports in the United States.
