Aaron Lewis to make Grand Ole Opry debut

Aaron Lewis.

Next Tuesday is a big day for country singer-songwriter Aaron Lewis. He’ll be making his Grand Ole Opry debut on Tuesday, May 28th alongside Dustin Lynch, Bill Anderson, Ricky Skaggs, Josh Turner, Craig Campbell and Sam Palladio (from ABC’s Nashville). The show starts at 7 pm and tickets are still available at opry.com.

About his debut, Aaron said:

“Getting to play the Grand Ole Opry is such an incredible honor. It’s a dream come true to think that I’ll get to stand in that same iconic circle where music royalty has stood.”

Aaron’s brand new single “Grandaddy’s Gun” is out at country radio right now. It’s a co-write by Dallas Davidson, Rhett Akins, and Bobby Pinson. About the song, Aaron said:

“‘Granddaddy’s Gun’ is the only song on the album that I didn’t write. In fact, it’s the only song I’ve ever recorded that I didn’t write.  But the minute Rhett played it for me, it took me right back to my childhood.  It’s my story.  It’s a song I could have written.”

Congratulations to Aaron on his big accomplishment! Are you going next week?

Some of country’s big names sat down with Yahoo! Music’s RAM Country blog to answer what they do before a show and what they’d be doing if they weren’t making music. The video features responses from Carrie Underwood, Gloriana, Jessie James, Craig Morgan, Luke Bryan, and Thomas Rhett answering the question about their rituals before a show, and Thompson Square, Craig Morgan, Kip Moore, Easton Corbin, Aaron Lewis and Brantley Gilbert answering where they’d be if they weren’t making music.

Here’s what some of the artists had to say in the video:

Carrie Underwood: “Right before we go on stage the band and I get together for like 10 or 15 mins. We have that moment to kind of joke around with each other, break the ice a little bit and we always pray before we go on stage. So, it’s kind of a nice calm before the storm.”

Jessie James: “Usually I chew up before, during, and after my shows! I’m never NOT chewing gum. I don’t know, it’s weird but it works.”

Thomas Rhett: “I usually go to the bathroom seven times before I walk on stage. If I haven’t completes seven successful bathroom breaks it’s gonna be rough show.”

Brantley Gilbert: “I was in college studying to be a relationship counselor but I probably would’ve been responsible for more divorces than Facebook so its probably a good thing it didn’t work out.”

Full List Of 2012 ACM Nominees

Congratulations to all the nominees for the 47th Annual Academy of Country Music! Here’s the full list of nominees for the April 1st award show. Watch who wins live on CBS from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Reba McEntire and Blake Shelton will once again return to co-host the night.

For the fifth year, fans will select the winner of the Academy’s most prestigious honor, Entertainer of the Year, and for the fourth year, the New Artist of the Year category will also be opened up to fan voting. Nominees for New Artist of the Year were not announced in the press conference today because fan voting for those semi-finalists will close on January 30 (see page 2 below). The winners of Entertainer of the Year and New Artist of the Year will be announced live during the 47th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards.

Kenny Chesney leads with nine nominations, including Entertainer of the Year, a category he has won four times since 2004. He is nominated for Male Vocalist of the Year, a category he has been nominated in nine times previously. He is twice nominated for Album of the Year for Hemingway’s Whiskey, as both artist and producer, and also earned double nominations for Single Record of the Year and Vocal Event of the Year as both artist and producer for “You And Tequila” with Grace Potter. Chesney is also nominated for Song of the Year for “You And Tequila” with Grace Potter.

Jason Aldean is nominated for six awards, including his second consecutive nods for Entertainer of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year. He is nominated for Album of the Year for My Kinda Party, and has nominations for Single Record of the Year and Vocal Event of the Year for “Don’t You Wanna Stay,” featuring Kelly Clarkson. He is nominated for Video of the Year for “Tattoos On This Town.”

Lady Antebellum leads group nominations with five nods, including Vocal Group of the Year, which they have won for two consecutive years. They are also nominated for Album of the Year as artists and producers for Own The Night, and for Song of the Year and Video of the Year for “Just A Kiss.”

Reigning Male Vocalist of the Year, Brad Paisley, is nominated for four awards, including his fifth consecutive nomination for Entertainer of the Year and eighth nomination for Male Vocalist of the Year, which he has won five times consecutively between 2006-2010. He received two nominations in the Vocal Event of the Year category for “Old Alabama” with Alabama and “Remind Me” with Carrie Underwood.

Toby Keith received three nominations for “Red Solo Cup,” including Video of the Year, which he last won in 2003 for “Beer For My Horses.” He also received a double nomination as artist and producer for Single Record of the Year for “Red Solo Cup.” Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill is also nominated for Nightclub of the Year in Minneapolis, MN (a nod that is not among Keith’s total nominations count, because it is awarded to the venue itself not it’s owners).

Reigning Entertainer of the Year, Taylor Swift, leads solo female nominees with three nominations, including her third consecutive nod for Entertainer of the Year. If Swift wins Entertainer of the Year, this will be her second consecutive win in that category. Swift is nominated for the fifth time for Female Vocalist of the Year, and for the third time for Video of the Year for “Mean.”

You didn’t have to be in attendance to win the awards tonight at the 2011 CMT Music Awards. Taylor Swift, away on her “Speak Now” tour, was live via satellite to receive her award for Video Of The Year. Her acceptance speech was cut out by a poor feed, however. Blake Shelton took home the most hardware for the night, winning the first ever Web Video Of The Year off-camera for “Kiss My Country Ass”, as well as getting the Male Video of the Year for “Who Are You When I’m Not Looking”. He accepted the later one by a taped segment while on the set of The Voice last night.

Sugarland took home the duo video of the year honors for “Stuck Like Glue”, and Miranda Lambert took home one CMT buckle for Female Video of the Year for the touching “The House That Built Me”. Director Trey Fanjoy was named the Video Director of the Year for her work on both Lambert’s “The House That Built Me” and Shelton’s “Who Are You When I’m Not Looking”.
