Tim McGraw Helps Raise 2.8 Million for Mental Health

Tim McGraw

The 19th Annual Music Festival for Mental Health took place September 7th-8th. Tim McGraw and his band played an intimate performance at the Staglin Family Vineyard in Napa Valley. The event raised approximately $2.8 million to benefit the Staglin’s International Mental Health Research Organization(IMHRO), One Mind, and the Tug McGraw Foundation. The organizations all have a common goal to support research, education, and treatment of mental illness and brain disorders.

The Tug McGraw foundation was established in 2003 and is named for Tim’s late father who passed away of a brain tumor. Tim shared:

“I was honored to perform at this important event and lend my support in the effort to seek the causes and cures of brain related disorders. I meet returning troops every night out on the road and a lot of them are living with invisible wounds like PTSD and other traumatic brain injuries. The Staglin family, IMHRO, One Mind, and the Tug McGraw Foundation are doing great work to help combat these disorders and the stigmas attached to them, and I encourage everyone to help in any way they can.”

Donations to the Music Festival for Mental Health may be made on-line at www.imhro.org, or by sending a check to IMHRO, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that sponsors the Music Festival. Please mail donations to: P.O. Box 680, Rutherford, Calif., 94573.

The 20th Annual Music Festival for Mental Health will be held the weekend of September 13, 2014, at the Staglin Family Vineyard.

PHOTOS: Tim McGraw celebrates Highway Don’t Care

Tim McGraw.

Tim McGraw celebrated his latest No. one song in Nashville yesterday for the multi-week hit “Highway Don’t Care” with Taylor Swift, featuring Keith Urban on guitar. The monster collaboration is McGraw’s 34th No. one song and second No. one from his Big Machine Records debut, TWO LANES OF FREEDOM. On hand for the celebration were songwriters Brett Warren, Brad Warren and Mark Irwin, Big Machine’s Scott Borchetta, Keith Urban as well as a packed room of friends, industry and press.

During the party, a video was played for the crowd that offers a look at the evolution of the song, from an idea in the writers room to finding its place as one of the most important songs of the year.  Interviews from the songwriters (including Josh Kear who was out of the country and unable to attend the festivities), Urban, Swift as well as industry leaders like Lon Helton were included who commented that McGraw  “continues to deliver songs to country radio that are really more than No. one’s, they’re game changers.  They move the needle.”

Tim McGraw Releases New Single “Southern Girl”

tim-mcgraw-southern-girl
Riding high on the #1 success of “Highway Don’t Care,” Tim McGraw just released his new single “Southern Girl” to radio as the fourth single from his Big Machine Records debut, Two Lanes of Freedom. The single was chosen in large due to incredible fan reaction it receives as part of Tim’s Two Lanes of Freedom 2013 Tour.

“At the beginning of the tour, we threw a lot of new songs into the set list, and that’s always a risky thing when an album is so brand new,” said McGraw.  ”It didn’t take a whole weekend out there before the girls were shouting at us to play ‘Southern Girl.’  The song has a really cool groove to it that just gets everyone moving and sets the right tone for a perfect summer night.”

The Two Lanes of Freedom 2013 Tour continues on this weekend with stops in Hartford, CT (6/28); Boston, MA (6/29) and Holmdel, NJ (6/30).

Tim McGraw’s Highway Don’t Care is #1!

Tim McGraw.

Congratulations to Tim McGraw and the team at Big Machine! His brand new single “Highway Don’t Care” is a number one for the country superstar. The single, which features guest vocals from Taylor Swift and guitar from Keith Urban, has taken over the top spot on both Billboard and Mediabase’s country singles charts. It’s also sold more than one million downloads since its release – giving Tim his first platinum-certified single with Big Machine. Tim’s other two singles from “Two Lanes of Freedom” were both gold-certified singles with the RIAA for selling more than 500,000 copies (“Truck Yeah,” “One Of Those Nights”).

Tim knew the song was special when he heard the demo that was sent to him. He explains:

“I thought this song had the potential to be really special the very first time I heard the demo.  And then standing on the stage with Taylor and Keith performing it live for the first time on the ACMs, I knew that it was really the kind of magical collaboration that only comes along every few years.  The energy that night was undeniable…I know the three of us could feel it.  Radio continues to be supportive and excited about the music we’re giving them, and I’m so thankful for my friends there and for all the fans who have really taken this thing to the next level.  It just keeps getting bigger and bigger in our show every night.”

Tim’s number one news comes on the heels of another sold-out weekend of his TWO LANES OF FREEDOM 2013 Tour, powered by Pennzoil, with capacity shows in Indianapolis, IN; Cleveland, OH  and Washington, D.C.

Curb Records taking Tim McGraw back to court

Tim McGraw.

Just when everyone thought the Curb Records vs. Tim McGraw court battle was finally done, Tim’s former record label threw a curve ball. The label won its battle to take the case to a Federal Court, and have sent us their response to the news. Check out why Curb Records says they’re so happy to be going back to court against Tim McGraw and his new record label Big Machine Records.

The following is a statement sent out by Curb Records:

Curb Records, Inc. was pleased to learn that Nashville’s Federal Court took jurisdiction of Curb Records’ continuing lawsuit with Tim McGraw and Big Machine Records. The lawsuit raises issues of tremendous significance which are important not only to Curb Records, but also to the recording industry and many other industries – the enforceability of contracts in Tennessee. Curb Records contends in the lawsuit that:

  • McGraw ignored his obligation to deliver his required Fifth Option Period album to Curb Records; and
  • The album he did provide, Emotional Traffic, consisted of old material recorded before the time during which he was permitted to record the Fifth Option Period album; and
  • McGraw ignored his delivery obligations and Curb Records’ approval rights; and
  • McGraw destroyed or erased many recordings owned by Curb Records; and
  • McGraw refused to accept his recording advance check and sent the check back to Curb Records so that McGraw could claim non-payment; and
  • McGraw attempted to deliver the required Fifth Option Period album before he was allowed to do so, attempting to end his recording obligations prematurely, among other things.
