Country music all-girls trio Pistol Annies have cancelled all upcoming shows due to “unforeseen circumstances.” The group, which features Angaleena Presley “Holler Annie,” Ashley Monroe “Hippie Annie,” and Miranda Lambert “Lone Star Annie,” had their promoter send a one-sentence e-mail to the venues.
The e-mail said:
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, Pistol Annies are unable to appear on any dates in June but Miranda Lambert will perform instead.”
Miranda will perform solo instead at all Annies scheduled dates in June. The trio have been busy promoting the debut single “Hush Hush” from their sophomore album “Annie Up.” No other information is available at this time as to why all the dates have been cancelled. There are NO dates listed on the Pistol Annies website at this time, but fans still wanting to catch Miranda Lambert in their spot can check out Miranda’s tour page to see when she’ll be playing all month long. The dates include sold-out Annies dates.
Ashley Monroe has released her own solo work this year on Warner Music Nashville. “Like A Rose” is her return to a major recording label, and she’ll be hitting the road as a solo artist opening up for Hunter Hayes.

Check out the official lyric video below for “Hush Hush” and let us know what you think – do you like them as solo artists or as a trio better?
The Pistol Annies will release their much-anticipated sophomore album, Annie Up, on May 7, and they recently revealed the album cover and track list. All of the tracks were written by some combination of the Annies, Miranda Lambert, Ashley Monroe & Angaleena Presley.
The first single “Hush Hush” was already released to radio, and talks about hiding family secrets for the sake of appearances. The track is typical Pistol Annies, as are many of the other tracks, such as “I Feel A Sin Comin On,” a blusy ode to temptation and “Unhappily Married,” a brash look inside the daily grind of a couple desperate to stay together.
One track, the somewhat confessional “Being Pretty Ain’t Pretty,” was inspired by a tweet from Ashley about makeup and makeup wipes. “Women are warriors and we go into battle everyday with the stuff we wear, said Angaleena. “You spend all this money for make-up and eyelashes and spray tanners just to wipe it all off at the end of the night,” added Miranda.
While Ashley Monroe is riding high on the success and acclaim of her solo album, Like a Rose, she’s also excited about another soon to be released album: The Pistol Annies sophomore disc, Annie Up. The first single, featuring Monroe and bandmates Angaleena Presley and Miranda Lambert, “Hush, Hush” was just released to country radio, and the full album will hit stores on May 7th.
Chatting recently with radio.com, Monroe discussed the upcoming release, “We sat and listened to it at the studio when it was finished and all three of us were bawling hysterically,” Monroe said of Annie Up. “It’s very special. I feel like a lot of the songs were gifts given to us. We wrote a lot of it on the road and it’s hard to write on the road. When we’re together, there’s just something that happens. When we write, when we’re on stage, when we’re hanging out – there’s just a buzz.”
Thrilled for the upcoming Pistol Annies release, Monroe has been pulling double duty, recently promoting her stellar solo effort on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and at South by Southwest. She’ll also be appearing with Train at select dates this summer, but it’s performing with the Annies that has truly bolstered Monroe’s confidence. “Touring with them and seeing the fans sing back songs that were album cuts, it’s so encouraging and it really gave me confidence that it was OK to make a record that is exactly me,” she said. “This year I’ll be an Ashley and an Annie, and I’m excited.”
Great news for Pistol Annies and Miranda Lambert fans this week! Miranda, “Lone Star Annie,” took to her Facebook and Twitter pages this morning to announce that the trio were working on their second album right now in the studio. Back when we spoke to her backstage at CMA Fest, she said she expected a release in early 2013 of the all-female group’s sophomore album.
They released their first album together “Hell on Heels” in 2011, which spawned two singles – the title track and the autobiographical, but funny, “Takin’ Pills.” The group made surprise appearances on Miranda’s “On Fire” tour earlier this year, and also played their own short headlining tour. They made their debut at last year’s Academy of Country Music’s Girls Night Out special.
What do you hope to hear from their new album? Check out their second official music video below and tell us who you prefer – Miranda as a solo artist, or as part of the Pistol Annies with Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley.
