Big congratulations are in order for Stephen Barker Liles, one half of country duo Love & Theft. On Tuesday May 28th, the “Angel Eyes” singer proposed to longtime girlfriend Jenna Michelle Kennedy in Fort Myers, Florida.
Speaking to People Magazine, Liles revealed, “I had one of my closest friends drive down and set up cameras….[She] asked what they were doing, and I said, ‘Probably just watching the sunset!’ Then we walked closer and I got down on one knee and begged her to be mine forever,” says Liles, who adds that they both cried during the proposal.
Liles asked Kennedy’s mother and three siblings for his bride-to-be’s hand and the pair are planning a wedding in May 2014.

Country music duo Love and Theft have had quite an amazing last few weeks. First, they had their single “Angel Eyes” go number one, and then they woke up yesterday to find out they were nominated for a Country Music Association (CMA) Award. They’re up for two awards at this year’s award show, New Artist of the Year and Vocal Duo of the Year. It’s something that Stephen Barker Liles and Eric Gunderson couldn’t even imagine.
“We can’t even believe it! We are honored and humbled to be nominated. It’s most certainly one of the biggest highlights of our career. We can’t thank everyone enough!”
“I have been watching my idols on the CMA awards since I was a little kid. It is such an honor to be nominated in two categories. I have been dreaming of this my whole life.”
“Angel Eyes” was certified gold by the RIAA for selling more than 500,000 copies since its release. Their self-titled sophomore album is out at both physical and digital retailers right now, so make sure to pick up your copy.
Congratulations to Love and Theft and RCA Nashville! The country music duo’s latest single “Angel Eyes” is officially gold after being certified by the RIAA for selling more than 500,000 copies since its release. The song has a shot at becoming a number one single for Eric Gunderson and Stephen Baker, as its currently sitting at number two on the Mediabase Country Singles Chart. Their music video for the single is closing in on 2 million views on YouTube.
“Ever since I started playing music, it has been a dream of mine to have a song or album go gold,” said Eric. “Thank you to everyone who made this happen for us.” Added Stephen. “Holy Moly! We are so excited about our first ever Gold single. Anytime people spend their hard earned money, it’s an honor and we are truly humbled.”
“Angel Eyes” is the lead single from the duo’s self titled sophomore album on RCA Nashville. The song is a co-write by the group’s own Eric Gunderson along with Eric Paslay and Jeff Coplan.

Sony Music Nashville duo Love & Theft have been announced as the NRA Country Artist of the Month for August. The pair, who just released their self-titled sophomore album, are joining some of the biggest names in country music for the title. Former NRA Country Artists of the Month included Trace Adkins, Rodney Akins, Gretchen Wilson, Lee Brice, Justin Moore, Montgomery Gentry, Craig Morgan, Sunny Sweeney, and Josh Thompson. Love & Theft teamed up with the NRA to support the brave men and women fighting overseas, appreciation for the outdoors, and love of family.
“NRA Country represents everything Love and Theft believes in. Our love for our families and this great country, preserving our American freedom, and most importantly a sincere appreciation and respect for our men and women in uniform and for their service abroad and at home.” – Stephen Barker Liles and Eric Gunderson / Love and Theft.
As part of the NRA Country promotion, the duo will be giving fans the chance to win a Love & Theft prize pack which includes two tickets to the public concert of the winner’s choice, two meet and greet passes, and an autographed poster with a copy of their brand new album. They’re also letting fans to get to know them a little bit better with a behind-the-scenes video with rare in-studio footage from the making of their album on NRAcountry.com/this-is.
Love and Theft have just released their self-titled sophomore album. The duo (formerly a trio) became a sensation with the powerful “Runaway” – long a staple of my Friday escape-from-work playlist. Now down one member, their lyrics lack some of the oomph they used to have, but they still make good music.
The pair is at their best when they’re sharing lead vocal duty and harmonizing. Both Stephen Barker Liles and Eric Gunderson get some solo time on this album, and though they perform well, it loses what makes them unique as a group.
“Love and Theft” opens with “Angel Eyes”, which I reviewed here. Everything I said then still applies – I love this song.

RCA Nashville duo Love and Theft will be performing their hit single “Angel Eyes” on ABC’s “GCB” this week. Stephen Barker Liles and Eric Gunderson will make their debut appearance on the drama this Saturday, April 29th at 10 pm EST.
“Performing ‘Angel Eyes’ on GCB was definitely a killer experience,” says Stephen. “I started watching the show from episode one and I really love it. I grew up a preacher’s kid so I can closely relate to a lot of the dialog. We are thrilled to be involved with such a fun new show!”
“Angel Eyes” is the debut single from the duo’s brand new studio album being released on July 24th. The self-titled record is something that the pair is pretty excited to be releasing on their brand new label:

Eric adds, “We have a new label (RCA), a new producer (Josh Leo), there are two of us now instead of three, but the core of Love and Theft is still the same. Our sound is driven by harmonies and we’re a band who writes, records and performs honest, soulful country music.
Love and Theft were nominated for Duo Video of the Year at the CMT Music Awards. It’s their first nomination at the fan-voted award show, and it’s something the duo is celebrating this week:
Stephen says, “We are stoked to be nominated for our first CMT award! This video is really special to us because we have a lot of close ties to this video. My dad plays the preacher in the video and our family and friends are part of the bonfire scene. We couldn’t be more excited. We are truly grateful.”
