Keith Urban will not return to American Idol

Keith Urban.

Reports out this week are indicating that country superstar Keith Urban, along with the rest of the judge panel, will no longer be a part of American Idol’s next season. Keith had left Australia’s version of The Voice to join American Idol this season. Host Ryan Seacrest will remain with the show, becoming the only original member of the cast from the first season that crowned Kelly Clarkson. The 13th season of American Idol will undergo massive changes to try and bring back in the viewers that it has been losing through the last few seasons – including ratings being down 22% this season alone.

As well as the judge changes, FOX will also change how its weekly themed nights will operate. The only thing that may be left that will still resemble American Idol will be the audition episodes. FOX is trying to bring back its core audience, which is believes is younger viewers, and they don’t think that the current judges are doing that.

The show has kick started the careers of country stars Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Kellie Pickler, Lauren Alaina, Scotty McCreery, Casey James, Danny Gokey, Bucky Covington, Josh Gracin, and Kristy Lee Cook, among others. Who is your favorite American Idol star?

Lauren Alaina Has A Big Heart

laurencityofrefuge

Rossville, Georgia native Lauren Alaina made her way back to her hometown area this past week to give back in her free time in between her Eighteen Cities Inch-By-Inch tour. While Lauren might be just like your typical 17-year old teenager, she also has a huge heart with a big desire to help others. On Thursday of last week, Lauren made her way over to the City of Refuge in Dalton, GA to spend some time with the children and their families in the refuge community.

“I love kids, I was going to be a special needs teacher before I was a singer,” Lauren explained before going in to meet the children at the City of Refuge. “Anything I can do around my area to help out, I’m always excited to be a part of that. I have this thing where like if I see a homeless person out on the road, I’ve never passed a homeless person and not given them money. My friends are always like ‘Lauren, don’t look!’ because they know I give them anything in my wallet. Or, if all I have is my credit card, I go buy them food. I’ve always had a special heart for them.” At the age of 9, Lauren met a homeless man named Kevin that she became friends with, and she attributes her feelings towards homeless men and women to this. “You never know what the circumstances are for the person that’s on the side of the street. People are quick to judge them and think that they just don’t want to work, but that’s not always the case. So, I have a big heart for people who, you know, aren’t as fortunate as I am.”

Lauren Alaina Announces 18 City Tour

Lauren_Alaina

I think it’s safe to say that 18 is a lucky number for Lauren Alaina right now. She has just announced an 18-city tour, in honor of her 18th birthday on November 8th, and her current single “Eighteen Inches.” It seems like just yesterday that she was 15 trying out for American Idol, doesn’t it?

Well, Lauren’s all grown up now! She will be teaming up with local charities and the Special Olympics to embark on this journey, and will donate a portion of each of her sales from her limited edition 18-City Inch-By-Inch Tour t-shirts. Lauren is trying to make a difference city-by-city, inch-by-inch.

Fans who cannot make it to one of these shows can still do their part and purchase the limited edition t-shirt from Lauren’s website www.laurenalainaofficial.com.

“Eighteen Inches,” co-written by Carrie Underwood, Kelley Lovelace and Ashley Gorley, has hit the Top 40 on the country singles chart and is steadily rising.
