Team Blake wins second straight season of The Voice

Congratulations to Blake Shelton and his finalist, Cassadee Pope! Team Blake has once again, for the second straight season, and second time in 2012, won NBC’s The Voice. Team Blake actually had 2/3 chances to take the title after two of his contestants made the final. Team Blake was both the champion and the runner-up, dominating this season. All three finalists received a brand new KIA from Cee-lo Green, however, as an early Christmas gift!

Blake had it in the bag after it was announced team Cee-lo came in third place. Cassadee, who started off on the show as a pop-rocker, has turned closer to pop/rock-country under guidance from her coach. It isn’t a stretch t o see her coach continue to be a part of her career, if his past involvement in his acts like Dia Frampton, Gwen Sebastian, and Raelynn are anything to go by.

Do you think Team Blake can do it again next season? Season 4 of The Voice kicks off in March, 2013 (and the blind auditions were already filmed before this season ended!). What was your favorite moment from this season?

EXCLUSIVE: Interview With 2 Steel Girls

2 Steel Girls.

Two weeks ago, Blake Shelton picked the first duo of the season on NBC’s The Voice, the mother-daughter team of 2 Steel Girls. It was a big moment for the pair, who have had to hide the secret of being on Team Blake since the episode was taped earlier this year. For country fans who are wondering just who exactly the talented pair are, we sat down for a call last week with the friendly, and sweet, ladies to find out exactly who they were and what fans can expect from them musically. Turns out the second time was the lucky one for one member.

The duo is a family affair: with Allison Steel (mom) and Krystal Steel (daughter). Their son/brother and father/husband are part of their band, and you know they’ll be going places when their first live performance was at the iconic Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, Tennessee.

Get to know the duo before they make it big – because they will. While they earned America’s attention with their blind audition of Carrie Underwood‘s “Before He Cheats,” find out why Krystal isn’t such a fan of the performance (but the coaches were!).

Check out our exclusive interview with 2 Steel Girls from The Voice below and let us know what you think about Team Blake’s chances for a repeat championship this year:

“As a country singer, being asked to sing at the Grand Ole Opry is a dream come trust and now being asked to come back is completely humbling and I’m absolutely honored to do it,” Sebastian gushed.

Her current single, “Met Him in a Motel Room” is climbing the charts while generating fans from radio and consumers from coast to coast.

Gwen Sebastian Looking Forward To Season 3

Gwen Sebastian.

Gwen Sebastian, a member of Team Blake Shelton on the second season of The Voice, is excited about the new season. The Flying Island Entertainment singer saw her career rise to new heights after competing on last season. She’s performed at the Grand Ole Opry and at CMA Music Festival, hit the road with Blake Shelton, and has been busy on her own tour and visiting radio stations playing her new single “Met Him In A Motel Room.”

She shares a little on her big year and her excitement to watch the new season:

“After being on the show I’ve had an amazing year being able to tour with Blake, performing at the CMA Music Fest, playing the Grand Ole Opry which was a dream come true and opening shows for other country music greats. This year has truly been a year of firsts for me and one that I will never forget after being on “The Voice,” Sebastian enthuses.

Her single “Met Him In A Motel Room” is available on iTunes and is out at country radio.

David Nail to Play Benefit Concert

MCA Nashville artist David Nail has announced plans for a charity concert benefiting the Cancers And Blood Disorders Auxiliary of Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation for Wednesday, September 26th. “Going Country For A Cure” will be held at Jergel’s Rhythm Grille in Pittsburgh. Proceeds from the event will go towards the Payton Wright Foundation. Gwen Sebastian will open up the show for David.

“The story of how brave little Payton was caught my attention, then captured my heart,” said David. “To see this little girl fight so hard, never give up and be so positive… You realize what struggle really is, and you want to do whatever you can so no more children have to face this sort of terrible illness.”

David first heard about Payton’s battle with a brain cancer in 2006, and he’s been touched by her story ever since. It was during an ESPN basketball broadcast in December 2006, when the announcer was talking about Payton, when David heard her story and immediately reached out to her father. David told Payton’s family that he’d do anything he could to support the foundation, and will be headlining the charity concert.

Tickets are only $25 and are on-sale right now, with VIP tickets, which include a buffet dinner, VIP access, and a meet-and-greet with David for $100 each. To get your tickets for a great cause, or for more information on the event, visit Going Country For A Cure’s ticketing page.

Gwen Sebastian’s Lucky Road Trouble

Gwen Sebastian.

Flying Island Entertainment’s Gwen Sebastian had quite an adventure out on the road. She was home on her farm in North Dakota after promoting her new single “Met Him In A Motel Room,” when she realized the door of her trailer had been left opened. It’s not clear how long the door was open for, but one of her suitcases had fallen out during the trip. That’s when she received a call at 3 am from a good Samaritan, who had found the suitcase in the middle of the road, and he wanted to return it. Talk about lucky! He left her suitcase at a nearby gas station for Gwen to pick-up.

Gwen is a pretty busy woman these days: out on tour with her former The Voice Coach Blake Shelton as part of his band, and out on the road for her own career. She’s also partnered up with World Vision to help raise awareness for the organization’s work to combat worldwide poverty and injustice. At Gwen’s shows, she will give fans the opportunity to find out more information on how to help World Vision and why it’s so important to help a worthy cause.

Miranda Lambert’s Fastest Girl in Town Hits Billboard

Miranda Lambert. photo credit: W magazine.

Miranda Lambert has another climber on her hands. Only weeks after “Over You” became the forth number one single of her career, she has a brand new track from “Four The Record” finding its way up the charts. Miranda’s “Fastest Girl in Town” found itself at the fifty-fourth spot on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Chart for issue date June 2nd, 2012. Her song is also number fifty-five on Mediabase’s Country Singles Chart… not bad for a song that hasn’t yet been named her new official single.

Miranda’s all-girl trio, the Pistol Annies, also have a single on the chart. Their second single “Takin’ Pills” is currently sitting at the 108th spot on the Country top 100 Mediabase spot – one slot behind Gwen Sebastian‘s “Met Him in a Motel Room.”

Miranda’s “ON FIRE” headlining tour continues Friday night in Virginia Beach, VA, then on Saturday in Camden, NJ. She has one more stop after those before heading to Nashville for CMA Fest next week. Will you be there?

You will be able to enter the drawing at CMAfest.com. between May 14 (starting at 10:00 AM/CT) and May 28 (ending at 5:00 PM/CT). You will enter in your contact information and then select from the list of participating artists singing autographs in the Hall. You may select as many or as few artists as you’d like to meet. Once you submit your entry, you will not be allowed to go back in and change it so choose carefully! Duplicate entries will not be considered and all winners will be notified by Friday, June 1 via email.

CMA will also have a limited number of tickets on-site at the Festival for those who can’t get to a computer to register ahead of time. For more information on this, please see the Fan Fair Hall page at CMAfest.com.

VIDEO: Gwen Sebastian – Met Him In A Motel Room

Gwen Sebastian.

It’s the big day for a former The Voice contestant. Gwen Sebastian, a member of this season’s Team Blake, is releasing her brand new single “Met Him In A Motel Room” to iTunes and country music radio today. I had the chance to listen to her single back in February and it’s a touching story about hope. The North Dakota native has been hard at work since her appearance on the show – performing in Blake Shelton‘s band during his Well Lit & Amplified headlining tour this year, and singing “Drink On It” at the Academy of Country Music Awards for the first time this year.

Check out Gwen’s acoustic performance of her new single with radio station KUPL in Portland, OR and let us know what you think of the Team Blake country singer. Don’t forget to get your copy of her pretty new single on iTunes right here.
