Frankie Ballard released his album, Sunshine and Whiskey, yesterday through Warner Bros. Records. Produced by Marshall Altman, the 11-track collection features Ballard’s Top 10-and-climbing single, “Helluva Life.” The song is his fastest rising single to date, and has sold about 300,000 digital copies so far.
“I’ve wrenched and wrestled with this album for two years, and now it’s time for it to be in the judgement seat. I hope she is met with loving arms,” said Ballard. “People will learn a lot about me when they listen to this project.” Ballard played guitar parts for every song on the album, and also co-wrote “It Don’t Take Much.”

Frankie Ballard is one of those artists that should be getting more attention than he is. I was at the Warner Music Nashville party on my birthday when Roughstock‘s editor, Matt Bjorke, told me to get up close and watch Frankie Play. Frankie didn’t disappoint – with guitar skills that might rival even some of the top guitar players in Music City, Frankie will be one of the interesting acts to watch over the next few years to see where his career will take him. I sat down with Frankie less than 24 hours after he impressed me with his short 2-song set in downtown Nashville.
His talent was quickly picked up in Nashville, and he was signed to his first song publishing company after only one showcase. The country music singer released his self-titled debut album on the major label last year, and he’ll be making an appearance at this year’s CMA Fest on the Bud Light stage on Friday, June 8th at 2:45 pm outside Bridgestone Arena.

Frankie Ballard made a surprise appearance at a Nashville-area elementary school last Wednesday, giving $1,000 worth of school supplies to to an unsuspecting teacher. The McGavock Elementary school teacher, Josh Wright, was also given an award during the surprise donation which included a printer, digital camera, desk chair and essential school supplies. The appearance was part of the Office Max “A Day Made Better” campaign.
The donation was made to celebrate Josh going above the call of being a teacher to help bring the best possible education to his students in his classroom. He was one of many teachers who spend $1,000 out-of-pocket annually on classroom supplies for their students. OfficeMax and Adopt-A-Classroom partnered up for the “A Day Made Better” campaign to help stop teacher-funded classrooms.
Frankie Ballard’s set to appear on August 6th’s episode of CMT’S “Southern Fried Flicks.” He’ll appear alongside Hazel Smith on the episode airing at 8 pm EST. While hailing from California, Brodie Stewart still has some southern roots. As a young child, some of Brodie’s favorite things to do were attending the Rodeo, listening to country music, singing and playing the guitar. This is what influenced Brodie to start his own southern rock band, where he got to tour the country opening up for big artists in sold out arenas.
After this, Brodie returned to his love of country music. He wrote tracks for his own band, and also wrote and produced songs for various other artists. It wasn’t long until Brodie was signed by Martin Kierszenbaum, the president of Cherrytree/Interscope Records, for a song/production deal to their label. Not long after that, Brodie signed a publishing deal with Warner/Chappell Music Publishing.
While gearing up for the release of their debut album, “Born American,” The Brodie Stewart Band has been touring the west coast opening up for big names such as Lee Brice, Thompson Square, Easton Corbin, Joe Nichols, Blues Traveler, Lonestar, Chris Cable, Jason Michael Carroll, Terri Clark, Josh Gracin, Casey James, The Farm, Moonshine Bandits, Greg Bates, Christian Kane, Chuck Wicks, and many more!
