Preview: Kelly Clarkson to Appear on CBS Sitcom “The Crazy Ones”

kelly_clarkson_gellar_robin_williams_thecrazyones

Kelly Clarkson: Pop star. Crossover country star. Reality shows mentor. Honorary McEntire. Sitcom star?

Although that last role may seem a bit far-fetched for the crossover country star, Clarkson will be adding yet another role to her already impressive resume. This fall, she will appear alongside of Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar in the pilot for a new CBS show, The Crazy Ones. Although she’s appeared on the small screen as a guest on Reba and a mentor on Duets, this may be Clarkson’s most risque role since grinding against Justin Guarini in From Justin to Kelly.

In the pilot, Clarkson plays a hilariously exaggerated and oversexed version of herself, while Williams and Gellar play a father-daughter advertising team. So you’ve got Mrs. Doubtfire, Buffy and the original American Idol in one place? We’ll be tuning in to CBS on Thursdays this fall at 9pm!

angel-mary-tennessee-werewolves

When I spoke to Angel Mary & the Tennessee Werewolves, they were amidst a radio tour in Paris, Texas. They were also in search of the Eiffel Tower wearing a cowboy hat. Believe it or not, shortly after our interview, they Tweeted a pic that they had found it.

Although this may sound silly, it’s a perfect anecdote about this family band, a determined, but fun-loving group determined to make their dreams come true. Whether those dreams involve finding the Texan Eiffel Tower or making great music, they’re well on their way.

Tim McGraw Records Song With Ne-Yo & Invites Him on Stage

Ne-Yo Nashville (2 of 12)

Country Crooner Tim McGraw can soon be heard on an R&B artist’s album! Grammy Award Winning/Motown artist Ne-Yo and Tim McGraw teamed up to record a song called “She Is” for Ne-Yo’s upcoming record R.E.D. (“Realizing Every Dream”), which is due out November 6th. Ne-Yo has a huge love for country music and wanted to share that with this duet on his upcoming album. This isn’t the first time Ne-Yo and Tim have teamed up though! If you remember, Ne-Yo and Tim sang together on “Only Human” on Tim’s “Emotional Traffic” album, which came out in January.

In addition to recording together, Tim invited Ne-Yo to join him at a private event in Nashville this past week, on Wednesday to be exact, the night before the annual CMA Awards. They sang a couple of duets including “She Is” from Ne-Yo’s album.

You might also remember that back in 2004, Tim sang on “Over and Over” with rapper Nelly, from Nelly’s fourth album “Suit.” He’s just dabbling into all kinds of genres these days, isn’t he?

You can listen to a snippet of “She Is” below before the album comes out tomorrow. What do you think of the song? Let us know below!

Lionel Richie Receives First-Ever CMA Nomination

Lionel Richie.

It’s almost hard to believe that a musical icon like Lionel Richie can still be receiving “firsts” in the industry today. He’s been nominated for his first-ever Country Music Association (CMA) Award for his duet with Darius Rucker with “Stuck On You” for Musical Event of the Year.

Lionel shares:

“I am thrilled to receive my first nomination from the CMA.  I am so grateful to the country music community for embracing this project and making me feel so at home. To share this nomination with my friend Darius Rucker makes it even more special. I have a CMA nomination and a friend for life. It doesn’t get much better than that.”

Darius is just as excited as Lionel is over the nomination:

“I was so honored to have sung with Lionel and am overjoyed with this nomination.”

“Stuck On You” appears on Lionel’s platinum-certified Tuskegee. Tuskegee is the best-selling country album of 2012 and the first country album in more than a year to spend two consecutive weeks atop the Billboard 200.  Richie has garnered album sales of more than 100 million, 22 Top 10 hits, five Grammys, an Academy Award, a Golden Globe and a host of other awards.

The album features duets of 13 of his timeless hits with Jason Aldean, Jimmy Buffett, Kenny Chesney, Billy Currington, Little Big Town, Tim McGraw, Willie Nelson, Jennifer Nettles, Rascal Flatts, Kenny Rogers, Darius Rucker, Blake Shelton and Shania Twain.
