Craig Morgan Gives Back During The Journey Tour

Craig Morgan

Country singer Craig Morgan has always been a fan of giving back to causes close to his heart.  He has recently partnered with Kidde Fire Safety to distribute Kidde Worry-Free smoke alarms throughout Morgan’s The Journey Tour.

Kidde will donate 5,000 smoke alarms – a $125,000 value – to fire departments along the tour’s stops.  The alarms will be installed in homes in need throughout the communities.  The first batch of alarms was donated to Morgan’s hometown fire department in Dickinson, TN on Feb. 11 with the help of the Tennessee State Division of Fire Prevention and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.

Morgan, a spokesperson for Kidde, is thrilled to speak out for such an important cause and explains, “As a former first responder, I’ve seen the damage home fires can cause. Many home fire deaths are preventable, and I want to do what I can to help keep families safe”

Chris Rovenstine, vice president sales and marketing at Kidde, is just as excited to work with Morgan, saying, “Kidde’s mission is to help save lives, and we are pleased to work with Craig on this campaign. Dead or missing batteries are the main reasons smoke alarms don’t sound in a fire. By providing sealed-battery smoke alarms to local fire departments, we can help protect families who otherwise may not be able to replace an outdated alarm.”

In addition to Morgan’s hometown of Dickinson, fire departments in Buffalo, Columbus, Indianapolis, Las Vegas, Austin, Phoenix, and San Diego will also received Kidde smoke alarms.  More departments will be added throughout the tour.

Craig Morgan helps out at highway wreck

Black River Entertainment’s Craig Morgan pulled over at the scene of a car wreck on I-40 in Tennessee on the weekend. Three tractor trailers were involved in the accident near Humphrey’s County on June 9th. Craig, along with his crew members, performed CPR and first aid on victims, as well as extinguishing a small fire.

According the sheriff, Craig did exactly what they would have hoped a good Samaritan would. In an interview with a local news station, the Sheriff said:

“He responded and did exactly what he had been taught to do and was a huge help. This is just another example of the kind of guy he is, he loves doing things for others.”

This wasn’t the first time Craig had stopped to help someone else in danger. A few years ago he had bravely run into a burning building to save two teenaged girls.

Craig Morgan to headline St Jude Marathon in Nashville

craig morgan

Country Music star Craig Morgan and special guest, Sarah Darling, will lend their talented voices to the 14th annual St. Jude Country Music Marathon & ½ Marathon presented by Nissan. Continuing the tradition of combining great country music with Nashville’s premier running event, Morgan and Darling will cap the weekend of festivities with a post-race concert at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. CST on Saturday, April 27.

The musically themed road race attracts more than 30,000 runners, walkers and 6,000 junior racers through ING KiDS ROCK Nashville, who will take on the 26.2 and 13.1-mile courses while passing many of Nashville’s best live bands along the route.

Complimentary concert tickets are provided to all registered runners and volunteers. Runners may purchase additional tickets for $35.

Craig had this to say about his support for the race:

“As a Nashville area native, I’m proud to represent Country Music and St. Jude and give all the runners a chance to let loose after the big race. Save up some energy for the end of the night because we’re gonna make sure you leave Music City with a lot of great memories!”

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, one of the world’s premier centers for the research and treatment of childhood cancer and other deadly diseases, is the official benefiting charity of the St. Jude Country Music Marathon & ½ Marathon. Again this year, participants registered for the race are encouraged to also sign up as St. Jude Heroes and Run For a Reason®. St. Jude Heroes, a special group who raise incremental funds for the hospital by securing donations from family, friends and co-workers, are instrumental in supporting the $1.8 million per day it takes to run the hospital. Thanks to the generosity of donors, no family ever pays St. Jude for anything. St. Jude covers the cost of treatment, travel, lodging and food for each patient and a family member.
