Austin Webb Shares His Journey in EPK

Austin Webb, with Streamsound, has released an EPK (Electronic Press it) entitled “Getting to Know Austin Web”. In it, Webb shares stories from his country music journey: from being discovered in Nashville, to his Grand Ole Opry debut, up to his current single “Slip on By” and more.

Citing such musical influences as Joe Cocker, Otis Redding, Bill Withers, Guy Clark, Bob Dylan and Townes Van Zandt; Webb’s music straddles the line between country and soul. His latest single “Slip on By” is out on country radio and a bona fide Top 20. It speaks to the bittersweet of growing older, living without regret and not letting time … slip on by.

Along with the EPK, fans of Austin Webb should also check out the official music video for “Slip on By”, as well as a behind the scenes clip from the making of the video and also a clip from his Grand Ole Opry debut.

The EPK, filmed by Glenn Sweitzer of Fresh Films, is embedded below.

Keepin’ It Country’s CMA Predictions

The CMA’s are upon as once again, so the Keepin’ It Country Staff narrowed down our picks for the night’s biggest awards. Let us know who you agree with!

Entertainer of the Year Nominees: Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, George Strait, Taylor Swift

Nicole: It’s not an easy choice here, and there’s definitely the obvious inclusion of George Strait for sentimental reasons, but I have to give this to Blake. He played a huge summer tour, anchors the judging panel on The Voice season after season and put out quite a few huge hits. He’s arguably the biggest thing in country right now so I have to give it to him.

Jessica: Luke Bryan has had a huge year, and I think he’s taken one of the top spots in country music right now. You can’t deny those dance moves!

Jennifer: Luke Bryan – With sold out shows across the country and yet another #1 hit song (despite Zac Brown’s disdain for said song), no one is killing it on radio or on the road quite like Luke.

Jeanna: Blake Shelton or Taylor Swift? Both have really helped broaden the country music audience and impact the genre in such a significant way. Taylor is massive with her sold out tours worldwide and cross-over success. Blake is the face of the genre at the present time, and he has helped put country on the map and bring it to focus with The Voice. Luke Bryan had a big year and is a possibility too. However, I feel like it’s Blake’s time for this right now so I’m giving this one to him.

Toby Keith takes over Texas

Toby Keith.

On Saturday, Feb. 9th, Toby Keith broke all attendance records for the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo.  Not only did he sell out the venue but it was the biggest crowd they have ever had since the event started in 1950.  Keith’s next performance stop will also be in Texas at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo on Feb. 25th.

And, as part of the Texas Heritage Songwriters’ Hall Of Fame Weekend, Toby Keith will be presented with an official certificate from the Office of the Governor hereby declaring Toby an Honorary Texan.  Other notable Honorary Texans include Bob Dylan, Russell Crowe, Bob Hope and many others. The event will take place on Sunday, March 3rd, at ACL Live at The Moody Theater. The superstar will deliver a special performance in honor of his most loved songwriters, Roger Miller.

Toby shares:

“Roger Miller was so intelligent that many of the greats would follow him around just for inspiration, just to hear him talk. He said some of the most famous quotes ever. If you want to hear cleverness, you want to hear wit, and you want to hear charm – you want to hear a ‘Class A’ songwriter, it’s Roger Miller.”

Toby Keith is preparing to put the hammer down on a new tour called, appropriately, the Hammer Down Tour. Presented by longtime partner Ford F-Series, the run begins on June 8 in Ozark, AR.  Joining him on this party is special guest Kip Moore.

Touring in support of his current album Hope On The Rocks, Keith will bring his acclaimed live show and its breakneck set list of hits, not the least of which is the album’s title track single, “Hope On The Rocks.”

Video Picks Of The Week: February 5, 2012

Chuck Wicks

Hello friends…

We give you our latest “Video Picks of the Week!”

Music Video

This week’s music video is The Wreckers‘ number one hit single, “Leave The Pieces.” I have always been a big Michelle Branch fan so when she formed The Wreckers with Jessica Harp back in 2005, I was excited to check out their music. Their album Stand Still, Look Pretty is still one of my favorite country albums, and is comprised of some really great music. The girls returned to their solo careers after just one record, but the duo is still one of my favorite country groups and I hope to hear more country music from Branch and Harp in the future. Meanwhile, keep an eye out for Branch’s new mainstream album that is slated to drop this year.
