Tomorrow’s Valentine’s-themed episode of “Chelsea Lately” will feature multiple Grammy nominated and winning country star, Billy Ray Cyrus. Fans can tune in at 11pm ET/PT on E! Entertainment tomorrow, February 13th, to watch.

This week also saw Cyrus drop two new singles. One being the re-imagining of his 1992 hit “Achy Breaky Heart”, featuring Hip Hop artist Buck22 and Larry King, titled “Achy Breaky Heart Pt 2″.

“It all started with Larry King… We were playing around in the studio and decided to do something fun for the 22nd anniversary of the song,” CYRUS notes of the raucous remake. “It’s so wrong, it’s right. Happy Valentine’s week…”

The other was the considerably more sombre “Hope Is Just Ahead”, a duet ballad Cyrus recorded with music legend Dionne Warwick at Jamie Foxx’s studio in LA. A portion of the proceeds of “Hope Is Just Ahead” will be donated to “Do The Write Thing-National Campaign to Stop Violence”, an organization that helps students at the ground level and tries to prevent violent behavior before it escalates.

Billy Ray Cyrus celebrated his 4th of July by performing the National Anthem at the LA Dodgers home game versus the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday. As a salute to our troops, the singer/songwriter also performed “God Bless America” standing alongside a few of our brave men recognizing their service overseas.

“What an honor it was to spend the 4th of July celebrating at Dodger stadium. It could not be more perfect to celebrate America with America’s favorite pastime,” said Billy. “Singing both the Anthem and ‘God Bless America’ while standing right beside some of America’s true heroes – our servicemen and women – is a moment that I will never forget.”
Cyrus is currently in the studio working on a new album tentatively titled Change My Mind expected for release this fall. He is set to make his debut in the Broadway play Chicago on Nov. 5, and will continue his run through Dec. 23.

Cyrus has sold more than 25 million albums worldwide, and has had three No. 1 hit singles since breaking through to the mainstream with Some Gave All.

“You only get one chance to tell your life story. This is my chance to set the record straight. I realized that over the years that there have been untruths and misconceptions about me, my music, my life, my family and our dreams. Billy Ray Cyrus Admits “Big Mistake”

Billy Ray Cyrus.

Billy Ray Cyrus was a guest on CNN’s “Piers Morgan Tonight” show this week and admitted the infamous interview he gave GQ was a “big mistake.” In the interview, Cyrus said that Disney and Hannah Montana had “destroyed” his family and put his daughter, Miley Cyrus, in great danger to the point of him worrying about her. He explained his choice of words as something that came out of a “dark time.”

“I made a big mistake even giving that interview. It was the darkest time of my life. Dark. It was dark. Turbulent, and that would have been a real good time for me to probably go and sit by the fire alone.”

Cyrus also believes that his daughter was meant to bring hope to the world and do good things with her fame. In the same interview with Piers Morgan, Cyrus claims Miley is a “natural born singer/songwriter/entertainer” and that she “has a lot to offer the world.”

“And, you know, she ain’t perfect and I sure as hell ain’t, you know. I mean, none of us are. But Miley really, really has a good heart. And she loves people. She loves music. She loves entertaining. There’s a lot of things that Miley does that I wouldn’t go into right now on a humanitarian basis. But Miley is a great humanitarian. She really cares about her fellow man, and people, and the planet and animals.”

EXCLUSIVE: Interview with Mitzi Dawn

mitzi dawn

Sometimes life takes you places you never thought you would go.  Sometimes those places are where you never wanted to be.  But if you’re strong enough, you can find your way back.  Such is the story of Mitzi Dawn.

To say that Mitzi Dawn is colorful is an understatement on many levels.  She’s fascinating, funny, and, yes, flawed.  She slipped into the darkness of self-induced drug and alcohol addiction, but has since climbed her way to the light.

The all-female country trio SheDaisy have signed an exclusive management agreement with Octagon Entertainment. Working with SheDaisy as part of the agreement will be Stuart Dill and John Ferriter. Octagon Entertainment is also home to Billy Ray Cyrus, Jo Dee Messina and Laura Bell Bundy.

Stuart says:

“Major plans are underway for a new album and tour. We look forward with great anticipation to ramping up SheDaisy in the coming year.”

Ferriter had much more to say on the signing:

“I’ve been a fan of SheDaisy since I first saw the girls perform. Their voices blend so beautifully and I couldn’t be more excited to work them and call them friends and clients. Kristyn and her sisters write amazing material and the new material just knocked me out. It’s rare to find a group that is so telegenic and we plan to utilize the many facets of the entertainment business and the many tentacles of Octagon to help guide the next phase of their career.”

It should be interesting to see what they all have planned for 2012. I still think we need a lot more strong all-female groups in country music.
