Kelly Clarkson might only be 30 years old, but in her last decade of fame since becoming our first ever American Idol winner – she’s had enough hits to put out her first Greatest Hits CD. Congratulations, Kelly!
Kelly’s “Greatest Hits – Chapter 1″ is set to be released on November 19th. The album will contain 3 new songs along with her greatest, chart-topping hits. Although, we are still wishing for her to announce that she’s recording a country album, especially after hearing all the country songs she covered on her Stronger tour. Is there anything the girl can’t sing?
In addition to her top pop hits, Kelly has had great success dabbling in the country music industry with the duet version of a song she wrote when she was only 16, “Because of You” that she re-recorded and performed with Reba, the countryfied version of “Mr. Know It All” and the smash hit “Don’t You Wanna Stay” with Jason Aldean. Will we see at least “Don’t You Wanna Stay” on her Greatest Hits CD? We’ll have to wait and see to find out!
Kelly is set to perform on the 46th Annual CMA Awards, happening live November 1st in Nashville. She is also nominated for her first ever CMA Award in the Female Vocalist category. Go Kelly!
She released her first single off the Greatest Hits – Chapter 1 album called “Catch My Breath” yesterday. In a blog post on her Kellebrities fan site, Kelly wrote:
“To celebrate the strength and longevity that my fans, friends, and family have supported me with I wrote this song ‘Catch my Breath’ with one of my best friends that has seen me through everything. This song represents who I’ve been, what I’ve felt, and where I’m headed as not only an artist but as a 30 year old that is now smart enough to know that it’s time to stop, catch my breath, and be proud of not only what has been accomplished but of all the people that have helped me become the woman I am today.”
While Kelly is typically known for her boy-bashing songs, we may not be seeing much more of those as Kelly admits she’s in love. The lucky man is Brandon Blackstock, the son of her manager, Narvel Blackstock. In an interview with Ryan Seacrest yesterday, she admitted that they initially met back when Kelly was working with Rascal Flatts and he was their tour manager. (We’re assuming this was back in 2006 when she sang “What Hurts The Most” with them at the ACM’s). “I didn’t really didn’t know he was [my manager's] son and it was kind of weird. I was like ‘dude I gotta know that guy.’ We were just in a room together, and then he came up and said he was from the same home town as me and I was like, ‘oh we’re so getting married,’ I was so that girl. When he became single, I was on the prowl.”
“I’m completely head over heels for him, he knows that.” Aww, how adorable! We’re super happy for Kelly. “It’s weird how life kind of puts you in certain situations. We’re taking it slow, and we’re enjoying each other. I’m from a family of broken marriages, but we will definitely break that trend one day.”
You can listen to the audio of the “Catch My Breath” below. We would LOVE to hear a country version…what do you think? The song will be available for purchase on iTunes on October 15th.
