Carrie Underwood has become the only country female to have a three week number one single in 2012 with “Blown Away.” The title track from her current album has claimed a second week at number one on the Billboard and Country Aircheck charts this week. It’s the second single from her platinum album “Blown Away,” and is also the namesake of her brand new tour. The track follows up her number one single “Good Girl” from the record. The combined number of weeks on-top of the charts with both singles makes Carrie the only female country artist this year to have three weeks at number one.
The newly Platinum-certified “Blown Away” marks Underwood’s 16th No. 1 single while the song’s dramatic music video also continues to be a runaway fan-favorite, with more than 5 million views to date on VEVO and a run of 10 consecutive weeks atop GAC’s fan-selected Top 20 Country Countdown.
Between dates headlining her third arena tour, “The Blown Away Tour,” she’ll return to Nashville to join Brad Paisley to host The 46th Annual CMA Awards, where Carrie is nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year. This year’s show will air live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Thursday, November 1, at 8 PM ET, on ABC.
In addition to her CMA nomination for Female Vocalist, Underwood is also a double-nominee for the upcoming American Music Awards, up for Favorite Female Artist – Country, as well as Favorite Album – Country, for Blown Away. Airing November 18 on ABC, the American Music Awards are fan-voted, with online balloting underway now at AMAVote.com.
