Taylor Swift Could Perform At YOUR School
Country music superstar Taylor Swift is partnering up with VH1’s “Storytellers” for a pretty cool contest for fans. One lucky fan will win a private Taylor concert at your school with VH1 this fall. The contest started yesterday and runs through to September 23rd. Only students accredited at high schools or colleges in the 48 continental states are able to enter.
The top five schools will each win $10,000 grants for the music programs from Taylor and Chegg’s philanthropic program. The school with the most entries from its students will win a private, acoustic performance by Taylor and see it aired on VH1 on November 11th at 6 and 11 pm EST. Pretty cool, right?
“Taylor Swift is not only a talented musician, but is also an amazing role model for our nation’s students,” said Chegg President and CEO Dan Rosensweig. “Chegg’s mission is to deliver value to students so we’re thrilled to partner with Taylor to bring a unique and intimate concert to her fans at one lucky school as well as provide music grants to five deserving schools through our ‘Chegg For Good” program.”
Students can vote for their favorite schools right now at taylorswiftoncampus.com. Make sure to get your classmates to get their votes in before its too late!
In other Taylor news, her brand new single “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” has broken a record for the best digital sales for a single by a woman in Soundscan history. She sold over 623,000 paid downloads of the single a week – so it will already be an RIAA certified gold digital single (just no official word yet). Her single had a number one debut on the Billboard Digital Sales Chart, and her sales broke the previous record set by Ke$ha’s “Tik Tok” in 2009.
