Kelly Clarkson Pens “Get Up” Cowboys Anthem
Our favorite sometimes-country artist Kelly Clarkson has teamed up with Pepsi to record an original NFL Anthem for her hometown team, the Dallas Cowboys. Having been a fan of the Cowboys since she was a kid, Kelly was so thrilled to be able to write a song for them that she wrote it the same night she was asked! From an interview with TheInsider.com, Kelly stated that the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders are what inspired her to write the song.
“When my manager called me to say Pepsi & The NFL were getting together to do this project and was I interested in doing a song, I said, ‘Heck yea!’ I’d do anything with The Cowboys! I’ve been a fan since I was a kid growing up in Texas. What’s cool is the verses are very much inspired by a chant the cheerleaders would do, while the chorus is a big ol’ Kelly Clarkson chorus. I thought it was right for a project that was all about having fun. Usually my songs either have me angry about something or sad about something or feeling empowered about something – this was specifically written for this project, so it was very different for me, which was so cool.”
Kid Rock has also teamed up with Pepsi and will write an anthem for the Detroit Lions.
