Jana Kramer, former actress on The CW’s “One Tree Hill,” transitioned from acting to singing without a hitch. After Jana decided to pursue her music career and bid farewell to her role as Alex Dupre on The CW’s longest running series, she says people were skeptical. However, Jana’s success in country music turned those skeptics to supporters almost immediately.
Jana’s first single “Why Ya Wanna?” was the most-added song of a debut artist since the inception of the Country Aircheck/Mediabase chart. “Why Ya Wanna?” also reached the Top 20 on the charts, further validating the actress-turned-artist’s career path decision. As if a Top 20 hit wasn’t enough validation, Jana’s self-titled debut album hit Number 1 on iTunes the week of its release. It is clear that Jana has been welcomed by peers and fans throughout the genre.
“It’s unbelievable,” Jana told The Boot. “It really is. The fact that I’m being embraced the way that I am, it’s a great feeling. I’m just riding the wave right now . . . It’s like, ‘You know what? You did the right thing,’” Jana explains. “I know I’m going to have bad days and songs that won’t do as well maybe, but I’m going to keep working hard, and I’m not going to give up.”
So, what’s next for country music’s newest “it girl”? Oh, you know, just a little project … also known as Brad Paisley‘s Virtual Reality Tour. For a list of tour dates during which you can see Jana hit the stage as a part of the second leg of Brad’s tour, click here.
