FLASHBACK FRIDAY: “Another You” by David Kersh

About sixteen years ago, in 1996,  a man from Humble, Texas named David Kersh released his debut album, entitled “Goodnight Sweetheart”. The album produced two Top 10 singles on the US Country Charts. One of these singles was the song “Another You”. It was the first of two hits that, in 1997, charted the highest in his career, at Number 3 (the second one would be “If I Never Stop Loving You”, which came from his sophomore album of the same name.)

“Another You” was written by an unknown songwriter at the time named Brad Paisley, who now is a worldwide known country megastar. He mentions this song in his book Diary of a Player, which was released last fall.

In 1999, Kersh was forced to put his singing career on hold, due to a strain on his vocal chords. In 2005, he announced he was walking away from the music business. explaining that his “heart is just not in the music business anymore”.

An actual video was never made for this particular single, but below is a “fan-made” video with the audio track. Take a listen and see if you agree that Paisley should definitely consider recording his own song. What do you think?
