Just over a week since Justin Moore and Miranda Lambert had both taken to Twitter to protest Ashton Kutcher’s appearance at the Academy of Country Music Awards, Justin has released an official statement on his stance. While Miranda has chosen to stay quiet since the Twitter feud of Nashville versus Hollywood erupted, Justin has chosen to not back down – with the support of Nashville radio behind him. Justin made an appearance on Fox News over the controversy, calling Ashton’s performance “distasteful” but did invite the actor to one of his shows to try and patch things up between the two of them.
Ashton turned to Twitter to try and defend his appearance at the award show:
“I grew up idolizing the style of Highway Men, Hank, Merle, Patsy Cline, Dolly. Starting to wonder if new country just doesn’t get it. Justin Moore calls it mocking I call it respecting your Elders. Maybe that’s old fashion. Know when to fold em brother…”
Justin has released an official statement on the matter:
“I stand by what I said about Ashton Kutcher’s appearance at the ACM’s. I don’t know him, he may be a nice guy, but I felt like he insulted a lot of us who live and breathe country music and the lifestyle. I’d be happy to sit down with him at some point and see just how much he knows about country music, he said he’s a big fan. It’s just my opinion and everyone’s entitled to one.”
What do you think? Are Justin and Miranda right and was Ashton making fun of country music? Or are some people being a little too sensitive?
