Taylor Swift to be Given Award by First Lady

Well, this is kind of a big deal. First Lady Michelle Obama will be presenting country music superstar Taylor Swift with a special award at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards on Saturday, March 31st. Taylor is receiving the “2012 Big Help Award” which honors her charity work through the last year. She’s worked with tornado and flood relief, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, St. Jude Medical Center, Habitat For Humanity, The TJ Martell Foundation, and the Red Cross among several other charities.

“Taylor’s dedication to helping others has encouraged her fan base to do the same, and this is the very core of what ‘The Big Help’ is, inspiring others through action. We are honored that First Lady Michelle Obama, a past recipient of “The Big Help Award” will be presenting this formidable and inspiring artist with this much deserved honor,” said EVP/Public Affairs and Chief of Staff for Nickelodeon Group, Marva Smalls.

The Kids Choice Awards air live on March 31st from Los Angeles on Nickelodeon.
