St. Patrick’s Surprise: Kelly Clarkson Joins Miranda Lambert

Color us green with envy.  Miranda Lambert fans attending her St. Patrick’s day concert in Broomfield, Colorado got special surprise:  An appearance by Kelly Clarkson.

The original American Idol winner joined Miranda on the 1STBANK Center stage for a performance of Kelly’s smash hit “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You).”  They then paired up for the singing of one of Miranda’s songs, firing off a special version of “Gunpowder and Lead.”  (See both songs below in a fan-shot video.)

Not sure if it was friendship or fate that led to the superstar singing surprise.  Maybe it was a bit of both.  For the fate part:  Kelly was in town as she is scheduled to play the same arena tonight.  As for friendship, the two are serving as advisors for Miranda’s husband, Blake Shelton, on this season of NBC’s The Voice.

But their bond and mutual admiration formed long, long before that.  As Kelly told the crowd at the end of the song, “I’ve been a fan since Kerosene (Miranda’s first album), so I’m a true fan!”  Miranda took the opportunity to put in a plug for Kelly’s show, telling the crowd, “She’s here tomorrow night.  You better get your ass here to see her!”
