Miranda Lambert Gives Speech About Whitney Houston
Last night (02/11/12), Clive Davis held his annual pre-GRAMMYS bash at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. After hearing the news of Whitney Houston’s passing yesterday afternoon, Clive dedicated the night to her and asked for a moment of silence.
Several stars took to the podium to share their thoughts on the death of such an inspirational figure in the music industry. Speeches and performances were given by artists including Alicia Keys, Diddy, Jessie J, Tony Bennett and Miranda Lambert.
After singing “The House That Built Me,” Miranda spoke out:
I know that it’s been kind of weird tonight with everything. I’ve had a lot of loss in my life the last four weeks. Now I understand what it’s like to lose someone you are so close with….I also know that the celebration of music is important because that’s how we heal, through music. And I hope I can help you all heal with my tiny little part here at the Clive Davis party. I am a country girl at heart but I do have a little R&B and soul and me and a little bit of booty.
Miranda will present an award tonight at the 54th Annual GRAMMY Awards airing on CBS at 8/7PM CST.
