Keeping Up With Casey: Album Release and Opry News
This week is shaping up to be a very big and busy one for Casey James. Today we learned that his self-titled album will be released on March 20. It’s the debut album for the American Idol alum, who took third place in show’s ninth season. “I’m excited to be releasing my debut album,” Casey shared on his website. “I’m thankful that I had the freedom to make the record that represents me as a musician and singer-songwriter.”
To say that James was an active participant in the creation of his album is an understatement. Along with the singing, he also played both the electric and acoustic guitar throughout. And then there’s the songwriting aspect. He co-wrote nine of the album’s eleven tracks. One of those tracks, “Let’s Don’t Call It A Night,” is currently at #33 on the Mediabase chart.
For James, the album has been a long, long time in the making. “I played eleven years of hard gigs in every bar and restaurant in North Texas and not many people even knew my name. That being said, I’m very thankful to American Idol for the opportunities the show gave me,’ says the singer. “I could’ve released a record right when the season was over, but I wanted to make an album deserving of all the fans that put me in this position. I feel like I’ve done that. And it feels good.”
The good feelings for James might elevate to ecstatic this coming Friday the 27th. That’s when he will be making his debut at the Grand Ole Opry. In case he’s nervous for the Ryman ritual, he’ll have a lot of veteran singers he can lean on. Also scheduled to appear that night are Josh Turner, The Del McCoury Band, Diamond Rio and Craig Morgan.
