Congratulations to American Idol winner Scotty McCreery, as his debut album “Clear As Day” has just been certified gold by the RIAA for selling over 500,000 copies of the record. The album currently holds the number one spot on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart for an impressive five weeks. The album was originally released on October 4th, 2011 and has been a big success for the singer, who credits his fans for everything that’s happened to him so far.
“It’s huge!” Scotty says of his first gold album. “Every artist dreams of a gold album and works hard for it, so it’s a major accomplishment to have your debut album go gold. This is just incredible.
“I want to thank the fans,” he says. “This is a testament to how great the fans are.”
“Clear As Day” debuted at the number one spot on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart and Billboard Top 200 chart. He was the youngest man in history to open at the top of the all-genre charts with a debut release. He still holds the highest first-week sales of any solo male country artist this year. The first single from the album, “I Love You This Big,” was already certified gold.
He’ll perform his new single “The Trouble With Girls” tonight on the American Country Awards on FOX at 8 pm EST. We’ll be there live on the Red Carpet and backstage at the press room.
