Grace Potter Didn’t Know Kenny Chesney Before Duet

In a backstage interview with HitFlix at The Grammy Nominations Concert, Grace Potter admits she was surprised to get a call from Kenny Chesney “out of the blue” to sing on the Grammy-nominated “You And Tequila.” She had never met the man before the phone call, and has no idea how he had heard of her before:

“Kenny called me out the blue,” she said. “I didn’t know him from Adam. I guess someone had sent him some of my music and he had it on his iPod shuffle and he was in St. John floating around on his boat or doing whatever it is that Kenny Chesney does when he’s in the islands and he heard my voice..He was very excited with my voice and thought it would fit the song.”

Grace Potter and her band The Nocturnals will be opening for Kenny on his tour next year with Tim McGraw.
