Over 150 military spouses, sailors and USO volunteers will team-up for “Operation USO Care Packages” on December 16th at Naval Station Norfolk. Together, they’ll put together thousands of care packages for the troops serving overseas. The event is part of the “15th annual Jack Daniel’s USO Toast To The Troops Stuffing Party,” and will also feature a headlining free performance by Craig Morgan for the volunteers.
Jack Daniel’s has been collecting personal messages in the form of “toasts” for the troops since 2005. Those messages are included in the care packages, and Craig has appeared at 14 of the events in the past to show his support for the United States Military. More than 150,000 care packages have made it to the troops as part of this event. This year’s “Stuffing Party” will continue the tradition of having a “thank you” barbeque for the volunteers followed by Craig’s performance.
The USO Care packages are sponsored at $25 each. They include items requested by the service men and women like prepaid calling cards, toiletries, sunscreen, playing cards, disposable cameras and snacks from home. The packages are sent to troops in Afghanistan, Iraq, and other overseas locations the military are serving at.
