AUDIO: Marthia Sides – I’ll Be Home For Christmas

Country singer, songwriter and stylist Marthia Sides has dedicated her Christmas single to those who can’t be home for the holidays this year. It’s why she chose to record and release her version of the classic “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” this year. The Virginia Beach native shares:

“I’m from one of the biggest Military towns in the country. Growing up, I had many friends and family whose parents were in the Military. I saw how hard it was for families to spend so much time apart, especially during the holidays.” She adds, “I also have a very small family and couldn’t image how hard it must be to be away from them during the holidays.”

Martha has performed in the past at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. In that experience, she saw first hand the men and women serving the United States on a daily basis and what they have gone through. It was those sacrifices that made the decision to record the single even easier:

“My dad told me from a very young age, ‘No matter how talented you are, no matter what you do, no matter how successful, you’re going to be lacking something if you sing only for yourself.’ He told me that as a singer, my work was all about making people happy. He would say, ‘You’re there because at the end of the day, your audience is out there because they want their lives to be better. They’re looking to you to help them escape what may be the worst week of their lives.’ Turns out, my dad was right, and it’s my pleasure to get out there and bring as much joy as I can to people who need to hear it most.”

The new single, which you can stream on Keepin’ it Country for free, has been sent to radio and is available on iTunes and Amazon.
