The National Park Service and the National Park Foundation have teamed up to announce this year’s line-up for the annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony. Joining the list of stars from other music genres is country music’s own Rodney Atkins, who will perform at the tree lighting on Thursday, December 1st at the Ellipse Park in Washington, D.C. Other guests attending the event include Carson Daly, OneRepublic, and even Kermit The Frog. Additional performers and guests will be announced in the coming days.

The event will be webcast live on thenationaltree.org starting at 4:30 pm EST on December 1st with an exclusive National Tree Lighting Pre-Show. The ceremony will also be re-played on television throughout December. For a complete list of air times, check the website above.

The annual event has become a Christmas tradition for many in the United States. It marks the opening of the four-week event sponsored by the National Park Service and the National Park Foundation. The Tree Lighting Ceremony first took place in 1923 by President Calvin Coolidge, and this year’s event marks the 89th year of the Christmas Tree Lighting.
