Congratulations to Broken Bow artist Jason Aldean on his win last week at the Billboard Touring Awards. Jason beat out pop superstars Katy Perry and Rihanna for the “Breakthrough Award” on Friday night at New York City’s Roosevelt Hotel. The award was based on ticket sales and data from Billboard’s Boxscore tour recap with the highest grossing artist who cracks their lists for the first time in their careers earning the award. Previous winners of the “Breakthrough Award” include Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga.
“This has been an incredible week for us,” said Aldean. “I got my first-ever CMA Awards on Wednesday, and now to win something based on touring – that’s what it’s all about for me. I’m really proud of our live show, so to be honored for it is pretty special. Makes me want to get out there and do it even bigger and better next year!”
The “Breakthrough Award” was given to Jason honoring his “My Kinda Party” tour which sold out over 50 arena shows across the United States this year alone. The attendance-smashing tour will continue its second leg in 2012 on January 20th in Greenville, South Carolina.
Jason took home his first two CMA awards earlier in the week at the 45th annual Country Music Association (CMA) awards in Nashville at the Bridgestone Arena. Jason won “Album Of The Year” for “My Kinda Party” and “Musical Event Of The Year” for his smash cross-over hit duet “Don’t You Wanna Stay” with Kelly Clarkson.
