Review: Jared Blake, “Don’t Mind”

Jared Blake has worked with Gretchen Wilson, Big & Rich, and the Goo Goo Dolls, but he gained public notoriety this past summer as a contestant on the NBC talent competition, The Voice. Blake was a part of the four-member Blake Shelton team, until Shelton ultimately chose Dia Frampton and Xenia Martinez to move forward into the final rounds.

Now, Blake is back with a new single titled, “Don’t Mind.” The song is a perfect match for his soulful, country rock voice.

“Don’t Mind” tells the story of a man’s past and his reckless ways. With Blake’s raspy vocals, the a cappella opening where he sings “Yeah, and I don’t mind” is a stand out part of the song. It serves as a great set up for the rest of this driving country rock track. The hard-hitting chorus sounds like something that will readily have fans singing along and throwing their hands up.

With some back-country guitar riffs behind Blake’s bluesy groveling voice, the single has great potential and may find a place amongst today’s country radio chart toppers.

“Don’t Mind” will be released tomorrow, November 1st. Make sure you check it out!
