Look out Santa Claus, Scotty McCreery’s coming to town and he’s going to steal your spotlight. WRAL-TV is reporting that the American Idol will serve as the grand marshall in the local Christmas Parade on November 19th. More than 60,000 people are expected to line the streets for the parade in downtown Raleigh, the largest Christmas parade between Atlanta and Washington, D.C.
“It means a great deal to me to serve as grand marshal of this parade,” McCreery said in a statement. “I’m really glad to be able to get out there and see all of the hometown folks. I know it will be fun.”
Scotty used to attend the parade as a kid, which he’ll now star in:
“We went with some family friends and it was freezing cold, so we brought a bunch of blankets,” he said. “It was always fun, and it’s a good time for the community, so it’s cool to be a part of it.”
The parade will air live on WRAL-TV starting at 10 am on November 19th, featuring more than 100 floats and entertainers in the Christmas spirit.
