Julianne Hough: Second Country Album Has Been Done ‘A While’

Julianne Hough has been absent from the country music scene from some time now, as well as the “Dancing With the Stars” stage. The last time she was on the stage was with now ex-boyfriend Chuck Wicks in the Spring of 2009. She did make a re-appearance to DWTS last week during the show’s Movie Soundtrack week, dancing to the title track of her new movie while Blake Shelton performed it. The last music we heard from her was also in 2009 when she toured with George Strait. That same year, she also won her very first ACM Award. With an absence of any new music recently, as well as her new-found success in the world of film, fans have been left wondering whether or not Julianne is finished with her singing career. While promoting her new movie, Footloose, earlier this month, Julianne revealed that her sophomore country album has actually been completed for quite a while.

“It’s done, It’s been a while since it’s been done, and so I’m like, ‘Well, I kind of want to rewrite some new things.’ I would rather just release it online and just let fans hear the music that I already have, that I can’t publish – but my label would get really mad.”

Fans have been able to hear music, but not in the most positive way. Julianne’s cell phone was hacked and all of her music was leaked online to her fans. The album, reportedly titled Wildfire, includes a song called “I’ll Be The DJ,” which was co-written by Carrie Underwood.

Catch “Footloose” with Julianne, alongside Kenny Wormald and Dennis Quaid, in theaters now! While we wait for new Julianne music, enjoy the Carrie Underwood co-write, “I’ll Be The DJ”!
