The legendary George Strait earned himself yet another number one single this week with “Here For A Good Time.” It’s his 58th number one song, a track he co-wrote with his son Bubba Strait and Dean Dillion. After 58 number ones, this is the first time George has a number one as a songwriter – it’s about time! He now has the most number ones of any artist in history, even more than The King, Elvis Presley. 84 out of 89 singles have made it to the Top 10 in country radio; 73 of which were top 5 singles.
The Texas native has sold nearly 69 million records and has 33 different platinum and multi-platinum albums. He still has the most RIAA certifications in country music today, and third overall in all genres behind only The Beatles and and Elvis. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2006.
George’s latest album “Here For A Good Time” debuted at number one on the charts, and number three on the Billboard 200, behind Lil’ Wayne and Adele. It’s his 8th consecutive album to go number one on the country charts; his 24th overall number one record.
