Lauren Alaina’s “Wildflower” Is Best-Selling Country Female Debut Since 2006

American Idol Season 10 alumni are certainly off to a great start with their careers.

The reigning American Idol, Scotty McCreery, debuted at number one on the charts last week. Now runner-up, Lauren Alaina, is leaving her own mark on country music with her debut album, Wildflower.

This week, Lauren has the number two album on Billboard Top Country Albums Chart. With 69,013 first week sales, she had the highest country debut of the week ranking in second only behind her good friend, Scotty, who remains in the top spot. Lauren also holds the number five spot on the most competitive album chart, the Billboard Top 200.

The 16-year-old Georgia native is also setting records and achieving some of the best debut sales in years. Wildflower is the best-selling digital album by a debut country female selling 19,659 digital copies. The album is also the best-selling country female debut since 2006. On top of all of that, Lauren is the youngest female artist to debut this high on the Billboard charts since Lee Ann Rimes came on to the music scene fifteen years ago.

As for American Idol stats, Lauren and Scotty are the first runner-up and winner to attain spots within the top five of the Billboard charts since David Cook and David Archuleta in 2008.

Congratulations to Lauren Alaina on a great debut!
