It’s been long overdue. The boys of Rascal Flatts were surprised last night at their performance at the Grand Ole Opry by none other than Vince Gill, who invited them in the middle of their performance to join the Opry membership. Jay DeMarcus, Joe Don Rooney and Gary LeVox were shocked at the surprise, which had been a long-time coming for one of the biggest bands in country music.
Vince entered the stage and interrupted their set teasing them about a golf debt, before he shocked them with the news. They will be formally inducted on October 8th into the Grand Ole Opry. They’re the second act to be inducted into the membership after the Oak Ridge Boys were inducted earlier this year.
“I used to vacation here with my family and I can remember being a little kid sitting in the very back at the very top of the Opry house and looking down at that stage and that circle and wanting so bad to hopefully someday be on that stage, so for it to come full circle like it has tonight is very emotionally overwhelming.” – Jay DeMarcus
Congratulations to Rascal Flatts and the team at Big Machine! I’ve seen them in concert quite a few times and they are one of the best entertainers of any genre.
