Big & Rich Surprise Army Vet With New Home At Show

The Xtreme Muzik Tour had a very special night at its stop at the Woods Amphitheater last night. The tour, which features Big & Rich and Gretchen Wilson, brought Air Force veteran Shaun Meadows by bringing him on-stage. A member of the 22nd Special Tactics Squadron, Shaun lost his legs in 2008 while serving in Afghanistan. He was hit by an improvised explosive device while on a combat renaissance patrol. He became the first active-duty amputee in Air Force history to successfully perform a skydive last year.

Shaun was presented with Big & Rich and Gretchen Wilson’s proceeds from the evening, as well as proceeds from Operation FINALLY HOME. As he was brought on the stage, a Jimi Hendrix styled “Star Spangled Banner” played and he was surprised with the news by his wife, son and local news anchor Jonathan Martin from WSMV. Goodall Homes has agreed to build the home alongside Nashville-based LP Building Products who will provide all the supplies necessary.

The Xtreme Muzik Tour continues this week through September and hits Nevada, Arizona, Utah, California, Oregon and Washington. The first leg of the tour wraps up in British Columbia, Canada.
