The 2011 Teen Choice Awards on FOX last night ended up being all about country’s crossover princess Taylor Swift. Not only did she take home the “Ultimate Choice Award” but she cleaned up five other categories, including the country music categories, she was nominated for: Best Country Song – “Mean, “ best breakup song – “Back To December,” female artist and female country artist. No one really stood a chance against Taylor in the music categories.
“I feel like it’s been long time since I was a teenager. Like two years — so it’s been a while. When I was a teenager I felt like we were always being stereotyped as being really intense and dramatic and passionate and hopelessly romantic and excitable, and now in retrospect I think I need to let you know that I think all of those things are amazing. I hope you never lose those things.”
Other memorable moments from last night included Ashton Kutcher taking home the choice movie actor and getting the whole crowd, Taylor included, to sing Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” live on the spot.
The Teen Choice Awards are voted on by teenagers for each category. It’s the same group of producers as the American Country Awards, which are returning to FOX on December 5th with Trace Adkins returning as a co-host this year.
